Stained, sealed and bolted back together. Gunna play hooky today and go to them thar hills... I need to build fenders, then it’s bedtime...

Due to angle strip length... I’d say Chevy shortbed stepside from 67-73.

Made some fenders

that is inarguable...

I saw a ford going down the road the other day that reminded me of what I see here

It’s a narrow box bed. Reason being I didn’t want to cut the fenders out of the bedsides before someday moving the axle back. It’s tall cause I didn’t want to cut the bedsides till I could move the axle back. It might one day turn into a shallow tub fleetside. But for now I think it looks ok. It’ll get a camper shell and tailgate, some skirts along the sides, trimmed out fenders and side steps. The bumper will update and I’ll be able to take the dogs anywhere.

It’s 300 pounds lighter than the empty ad flatbed and toolbox!

The idea is to rework the flatbed to swap out with the tub bed with six bolts and 4 or 5 wires. I might cut out for the fenders and find a way to tie them to the sub frame. I want to tuck the vapor separator and filler neck under the fender and maybe even face the fenders. There will be steps... oh yes. There will be...

I screwed the pooch and used red oak ply thinking it was made of plus of red oak... Gina cover it with Indo/outdo carpet or carpet mat with pad...it llooked ok for a minute. Then I used it once! Fml...

Some acx or marine would have been choice. Nuther lesson learnt...

I like the idea of someday moving the axle back. Wouldn't you have to cut the frame before the axle hump and move the whole thing back, trim to fit. A lot of work, but fun.

looks like the bed is going to need some... adjustments...
