That’s awesome info on springs and shocks from the Australia Prado site.

On eBay for under $600 delivered. Seems really tempting to buy, would need to get a set of rear springs to complete it tho. So nobody has tried this? If so, what rear springs were used?

The fact that the kit doesn’t include rear springs is a good thing. Gives you the opportunity to try the dobinson progressive/variable rate rear springs for like $205-$225/pair.

@half k cruiser said he ordered this kit and has it in the garage ready to install soon. Maybe he can take before and after hub to fender measurements and post a details of the install.

The things we need to know from this kit is how much lift if any in the front to know what rear spring length to use. These TRD/bilstein 6112 front coilovers are not fully height adjustable, so that’s a key factor.

I have the adjustable height 6112 front shocks and springs and I can get 0 to 3” of lift according to the specs.

Update: @Bama80 reported 1.25” lift in front to level gx470 with rear air springs in stock N position. @half k cruiser created an installation thread of his Trail Teams Ultimate Edition TTUE TRD FJC kit # GX470 TTUE TRD suspension install

Absolutely, I don't really want to lift my GX at all, so knowing what this kit does up front is really important. Not only to know what rear spring to use but also to know if the stock rear airbags can be reused as is.

From what I’ve seen on FJC forum, I think that kit dried up rather quickly once word got out. You may have luck searching that part number across several Toyota parts sites.

@HomersCanyonero came across this today. Has pretty comprehensive numbers on different setups

I'm a bit skeptical about the data on that sight. Looking at the stock FJ front coils it says they are 355mm with a rate of 590/595. I just went out and measured the TRD coils sitting on my bench. They come in at 350mm. The TTUE kit is supposed to bring a normal FJ up one inch in the front and make it sit level front to rear. Somewhere we are short 25mm ! As for the spring rate, it is supposed to be 600 which shouldn't be enough to make up that difference.

I'd have to agree. Aussie spec FJs may be a little different than those shipped to the US. There have been proven differences between them. Gas tanks are bigger, rear diffs are gusseted and different. I've seen the 8.2 aussie rear and it's different. So there may be a few differences there when comparing the FJC.

I have a question regarding the Bilstein 5100s and didn't want to start a new thread. Does adjusting the height using the stock springs have a similar effect to using a spacer, or is the Bilstein shock the proper length or valved differently to handle the lift? I'm probably going to get new springs anyways, as I've read about some ride comfort problems, but just trying to understand the mechanics.

5100s are designed to use the stock coil. Lifting happens by preloading the coil, the same manner as in a fully adjustable coilover (King, Icon), not the same as a top spacer.

So no one has tried the FJ TEAMS setup huh?

So is there no concern of damage to the shock even with the ride height set at the highest setting? Bump stop adjustments needed?

Nope. The ride will be rougher, and you'll have less down travel (same as you would with a "lift coil"), but the bump stops do not need to be lowered as they would with a spacer.

@Docwyte @subspd I'm running the TRD FJ kit with factory airbags on my 07 470 with KDSS. Lifts the front about an inch and a quarter, effectively leveling the truck with the rear bags in the N position.

This kit? Did it come with rear springs?

Correct, that kit. It did not, just the coils for the front struts. Since I was keeping the air bags in the back, the only thing extra I had to buy were new strut mounts (~$60). Had to do a little Dremeling to the one of the washers in the strut mount kit but otherwise everything mounted right up.

Great! Sounds pretty much like what I want, a really minimal lift and it works with the stock rear bags. When my rear bags go out I can just replace them with springs and be all set.

Did you get FJ strut mounts or GX470 ones?

@Docwyte I got GX strut mounts. KYB was the brand. In my layman's brain terms: one of the washers has a "D" shaped hole that has to be Dremeled out to match the other washer's standard "O" shaped hole.

@Bama80 what size tires are you running? Do you think you could clear 275/70s?
