Does the MID have a low oil pressure light, as i thought that feature was reserved for full size bof only?

Pretty much every motor has an oil pressure light, low oil level lights are much rarer.

Not really as uncommon as you may think. Had a co worker asking about his oil light on his 10 year old Subaru Forester, as cheap and featureless as they are, they also have a level wanring light and a seperate pressure light. There are several variances in the oil can symbol that have various meanings; pressure, level, temp, etc. Most are accompanied by a text message since everything has a screen these days.

I've gotten the low oil level warning 4-5 times in my 30k miles of ownership. Each time was because I was parked or idling facing downhill at 20-30 degree angle. It went away once level and oil level has always been fine. Now I know not to let the gx stay idling when I know it'll be in a steep downhill angle for more than 30 seconds.

As long as oil pressure remains good, it should not be an issue.

Yeah some vehicles have oil level warnings, but many do not.

Got an "Oil level low warning" on the dash yesterday while on the trails

Had LOF done at Lexus about 2 weeks ago and noticed no issues driving it since. No leaks on the ground, etc. This was the first time the light came on.

Pulled the dipstick and it was pretty low-- bottom line at best. Admittedly was on a hill nose pointing down so that didn't help, and is probably why this whole thing happened.

This was pretty early into the day so didn't want to bail out. Didn't have any extra 0W-20 with me (won't make that mistake again) so someone gave me 5W-30 and we put in probably 1 cup worth, maybe 2 at most. No idea if it was synthetic or not.

Could go on a long research overanalysis deep dive to find out if there's any downside, but curious if the GX community thinks there's any detriment to running the oil like this until I change it next (probably in 6 months or so)

& also going to run this by the Lexus service department tomorrow as I've never gotten this warning before and they did just change the oil, so doing due diligence in covering myself for the future.

(And apologies for @tech703 for mistakenly initially posting this in their thread lol)
I would double check the dipstick again to make sure you're not over-full now.

The ultimate overlander vehicle!
Not sure if any of you remember the "Wild Thornberry's" kids cartoon show back in the '90's, either your kids watching it or even yourselves.
My daughter used to watch it when she was little.
They call their rig the "ComVee":

Got a little lost in VT trying to find my buddy's cabin (I was given the wrong address) and ended up on a class 4 road that was a ton of fun to drive. Here's a little clip of cruising up the pass. The way down the other side of the pass was kinda washed out rocky and rutted and my completely stock GX handled the whole thing like nothing. I tried DAC for the first time on the way down and boy did I not enjoy that experience. Does it just modulate the ABS? For the way down I put it into 4-LO and "sport" mode 4 and let the transmission help with braking.

All of my prior vehicles wouldn't have made it even a quarter the way up.

A very conveniently timed backing track from Grateful Dead radio on SiriusXM.

Will need tires in about 6-8 months and starting to think about how big I want to go. At a minimum looking at 33.5 (34x10.5) Toyo ATs but may go larger. Also considering 34 (285/75/17) and 34.5 (35x11.5)

Awesome scenery, awesome music, you got it all!
My wife and I have been known to purposely go on trails, turning off here and there with no destination in mind just for the sake of the drive.
Some our best trail drives! Albeit, we have breadcrumbs on and displayed on the infotainment screen when we do that. Just in case...

Nice work! We look for those roads on purpose, some are worse or better than others, depending on perspective. You can find maps online of the class 4 roads in VT or the class 5 roads in NH as they are called, same idea, public unmaintained roads or right of ways. Most of the legal wheeling in VT are actually these roads.

At least where we live (west coast), the factory 2013 maps in our GX show an amazing amount of trails with names and numbers, even more than Google Maps without having to pre-download maps before we're out of cell service. One reason why we keep the GX map displaying breadcrumbs when on these trails.
Is the east like that also with your GX maps?
