Yeah, pretty much what I’ve been hearing… suspect it’s getting SR Tundra tune. 348 hp and 405 tq, which will be a nice little boost over the 1UR.

Looking forward to seeing what the numbers look like when the third gen comes out… rumor is that they’re going after the g wagon with this one. Triple locked, boxy, ultimate luxury off roader.
They're going to keep the GX in the exact market segment that it currently occupies. However, I will be very surprised if we don't see an increase in off-roady stuff through option packages, trim level, etc.

Time for mods!! Cut that low hanging plastic!!!
Sadly it is the wife’s ride for now. So thats a No Va until a few years out. What it does do is get me back into a Cruiser and serves as a more powerful tow vehicle for our camper trailer. Sufficient enough of an arrangement for now.
I’m in a work car for at least two years until the next gen GX has been out for a bit. Then we’ll see if I can trade her a new one for the V8.

I wonder how much of the sales is limited by their production capacity. It seems like every GX at the dealers I've called are all pre-sold, nothing is actually hitting the lot.

They still sell so few of these I doubt the production issues matter much as they would with Camry's, Corolla's and RAV4's. The profit margin on these is also pretty high compared to those lower mass market commuter models where Toyota pinches fractions of pennies. ~2k sales in a GX versus 100,000s and 100,000s+ of the other models makes a bit of difference most likely no?

The 2022 GXs has the previous gen Lexus infotainment (i.e. not the one in the new LX or new NX, but the one in the current RX and ES), so I'd imagine that it's competing somewhat with the other Lexus models for resources. Especially for things like the Multi-Terrain View (360 camera) which is an improved version compared to the <2021 implementation (camera quality so much better).

But I literally cannot add to these sales figures even if I wanted to because no one will sell me a GX /shrug

All are good reasons to buy one, but the new j180 is not losing the land cruiser feel or the off-road capability… if anything, it’s going to get more of it.
