I've said this before, add I'll say it again - Some of you have never driven a 2F-powered wagon, and it shows... A 2UZ with no mods and no tune makes "plenty of power". I towed trailers without compromise on the freeway cross-country in my 100 (which weighs more than the 470}. 😜 I can comfortably go 100 mph no problem in my lifted, modded GX 460. I can pass anything on the freeway I safely desire to. I can tow at speed anything up to the limit. At some point, we're just measuring d!¢ks... 😂
My minor complaint with the 2UZ towing is that it doesn't have enough torque at 2,000 rpm to tow with the cruise control on in 5th gear. That's kind of petty and I'll fix it eventually a 4.56 regear :). Still, it has comfortably lugged our camper 700 miles in a day no big deal....my foot just gets sore after 11-12 hours on the throttle pedal.....if I were to keep it in 4th and drive 60-65 mph the cruise could even be on.

If we were measuring d!ck$ I would have financed a Ford F350, then using my credit card, jacked it up 18 inches, put some big honkin tiars and dub rims on it sticking out 15 feet past the fenders, put a 36" exhaust tip on it, stuck my towin mirrors out like sails, put some lights in the fender wells, and started blowin black smoke all over the soccer moms while driving completely across the center line in the lane of oncoming traffic. Oh yeah, and I would have grown an 8 foot long beard and gotten tattoos all over my body and listened to "country" music with lyrics about "kickin up dust and chewin baccer". Cause hell yeah Merica!

And don't forget a train horn for scaring people while they load their groceries at the Piggly Wiggly.

Am I wrong?

Personally I find it hard to say I'm not doing any d!ck measuring with my lifted Lexus SUV, with a titanium gravel bike on top, towing an expensive/unique camper. Maybe this style of d!ck measuring has some class to it, which the Cummins/PSD/Duramax (and to some degree - even Jeep/Bronco crowd) lacks :).

TBH my rig usually gets a ton of looks/waves/thumbs-up etc. All the time. I live in the heart of diesel country, you can't swing a dead cat here without hitting a lifted bro-dozer. Very few Toyota SUVs and almost no Lexus SUVs., of those next to none have any mods. I like being different :).

Do you keep a ride longer than three years? ;)

Only once in my life lol and oddly enough it was a Jeep TJ. We are in a scenario now with our proximity to work, the ranch, family, doctors, etc. that requires us to have a mileage mule vehicle in order to keep those miles off of our daily's. Our current GX460 is bone stock aside from the 32" AT's and likely will stay that way for the foreseeable future. Odds are it'll stay in that configuration if we elect to keep it around for that intended purpose, I'd be much more inclined to trade it off for a Bronco, Tacoma, or something else if I simply wanted something to modify. But never say never, I could see it on a mild lift with 285/70's and a low profile hybrid bumper for $hits and giggles.

It's amazing how people can say that a 300+ V8 doesn't have enough power. A little throttle re-mapping, and I'm not sure I see the need for the additional HP of the TTV6. How much HP is enough???

:meh:
My issue is the 1UR we have runs out of breath too easy when trying to pass either on an incline, heavy headwind, and or when already going over 70. My tune helps but I could use another 50bhp and 75tq if I'm honest. I can live with what I got but I would be happy with another 50/75.

Wish I could grab one of the last 460's before they're gone.
If I could afford it, I'd trade mine in, in a heartbeat, but only if I could also afford to build it up immediately.

I tried to convince Mrs. Rednexus to get one, but we ended up with the Highlander Hybrid instead. Marital bliss meant sacrificing the a chance to own the last of a legend.

Ditto. Though I'd keep mine and just buy another one.

My wife complained and said "she never gets to pick out what we drive". I asked her what she would have picked if the decision were up to her (we had just bought the GX460), she replied "I would have picked the GX460"

I had told her previously that she could pickout whatever she wants, but she has to pay for it herself, maintain it herself, and when it breaks down, fix it herself. She knew the GX460 was gonna be the best drivng, most reliable, finely crafted 100% Japanese automobile. I trained her well.

Are the highlanders made in Japan?

M-USA with a Japanese drivetrain. Super-reliable and well built and will hit 40 mpg on backroads no problem. I just don't have a ready-to-roll replacement for my 470 ten years from now and will have to find a used 460 instead :).

 so many posts in here about 460 owners in DFW and here I am another one fitting the stereotype :p
I bought both of my GX's while living in the DFW area. LOL. Now I'm one of only a couple of GX460 owners up here in far north Idaho. LOL And the only one modified.
