Looking good Bill. Cannot wait to see it again.

Same here. Wish I could be there to lend a hand. Very interested to see the high steer from 4x4 Labs. It removes all possibilities of tierod damage.

By the way thanks for all the help with the Newfield replacement. I'm having trouble resizing a pic of the cruiser but Trollhole may post it for me. Not SOA as yet but the 37's from Troll ain't bad:bounce: We will compare notes at GSMTR.

Bill, you work too hard.

I put on a new set of 38.5's and beadlocks and called it good.

We'll be at Crawford camp, the whole family is going also. So we'll have my 40, JD's 40, Jamie's 60 and Rick's 4Runner, and Eric D. will be going with us.

Save some hard stuff for us, don't build too many roads to ease the hard parts.

Alan - You're 40 is going to rock with the newfields and those 37's. Can't wait to wheel with you guys. Was thinking about skipping SC this year due to extra driving, but if Jim goes I think I'll just have to join him just so I can catch up with you guys. Troll - get that pic up for Alan.

I know what you mean - this is the last buildup for several years - this and the house has just taken too much of a toll on my personal life. Part of this is your fault for showing me those high steer arms :flipoff2:

Would love to see a pic with the new tires - get something posted up.

Anyway you can pre-arrange for a FLCA club ride early in the week - maybe something like slickrock or Lower 2 - so's those who don't want to wheel it can at least walk down to the viewing spots. I think it'd be a blast if we could all get together - would make for better pics on the website.

THAT'S A GREAT LOOKING RIDE!

37's Are Too Small!!!

Slow start today due to St. Paddy - got the rear lined up tonight (not welded yet) - wanted to get some weight on the springs. Thought I'd pull the 37's out as they're better for around town use and they're been locked up for well over a year - well they're too small and it's too tall. Might need to consider selling both sets and going with the 40" MTR's and 17" beadlocks. Will wait and see but it at least looks like I might be pulling the bottom 2 leaves to drop it another 1/2" - certain they'll settle after wheeling - very flexy.

Not that my 40 is gonna make it to GSMTR... but I am excited to share that I bought a metal-tech cage today. Mark is shipping it thursday. Stoked... super!!

...hey bruiser, can we use your rig to haul all the toys to TN too...? :D

Looking good brotha....if the 37s are too small I'll buy the MTRs off ya since I need some bigger tires for Velveeta. Parts are starting to filter in for my overhaul for Velveeta.....pics in a few days I hope.

Man you sure are gonna smoke me on the trail now. nice build brotha.

Chuck D's Cross Country America Tour!

If anyone needs a tow up to Tennessee to save on cruiser wear, I'd be glad to help. That'd be a lil easier to plan out to since its much closer than the pacific coast.

3-21 Progress

Got everything off the front frame horns except for my GM PS plate, which I am debating ripping off - hangs below frame rail and will conflict with the low shackle reversal. Going to try and finish lining everything up and figure out how many problems I might have: 1) Remove 2.5" long helper springs or remove a few bottom leaves to reduce height, which is pending on 2) whether the high steer arms allow tie rods to clear the current 8 leaf setup I've cobbled together and 3) what conflicts with gear location and 4) will need a flat steering arm. Other than these nerve wracking worries it's getting closer to being ready to weld perches and measure new driveshaft needs and order shocks :D

Will post a pic tonight.

Frame Horns

Hope to have everything mocked up by Sat. and should now what will work and what won't? Note notching in PS plate - I previously did a little for the shackle and I'm going back as far as possible to see if I can leave it there and still get new hangers on.

Looking good, Bill.

I'm glad that the springs are working out for you.

I was supposed to do some painting this past weekend, but got wrapped up in another project instead.

I finally did some painting last night and will do some more tonight (weather permitting).

This weekend should see a lot more get done, but the temperatures are going to be cool and might not lend themselves to painting. We will see.

Keep up the good work and keep us posted!

Eric

Eric You also running stock birfs? I don't want to be the only one changing out birfs on lower 2;) :D

Yup. Stockers up there and I'm running an Aussie too - so there will be a good chance that I could be right there with you!

I've got two spare birfs and inners all around for front and rear.

I can't wait for Lower 2 with the FLCA crowd!

Eric

Ditto that...I got spares all the way around too. Im gonna see if the rest of the crew will strap some old beat surfboards to the roof. I am going to run it Florida style with a surfboard on top. We can tell people its a florida run and we got lost looking for the beach on lower 2.:D

P.S. I'm fully locked too, I think I'm a touch heavier than you so more than likly I'll be poppin one first.

Hey, don't you guys ever think "POSITIVE" thoughts???

We'll make Lower 2 without any problems, then go to Upper 2. I've got one extra birfield just to help balance the weigth of the cruiser. And, I have two neat little 10MM bolts that I may loan to other groups who have problems.

When we go for "broke" that doesn't mean the equipment, it means we broke the trail and tamed it...

Anyone got some Jack?:grinpimp:

Jerry
