Wow that's tall!

I'll finish painting the front axle Saturday and probably get the rear attached. It is conceivable that I'll have her on all fours this Sunday. I'll start measuring for shocks then.

I'm crossing my fingers that it will still fit into the garage. I've still got a few more inches of clearance that I can coax out of my garage door.

I guess now I need to start getting all the crap out of the Cruiser - it has sat so long that it has accumulated whatever I didn't have a place for at the time.

If too close, just air the tires down. Can't wait to see it. Pics??

I'll have to get some fresh photos for you. The last ones I took were when I took the spring packs apart. Jerry took a few as we rebuilt the front axle. I should snap a few this weekend. I want to immortalize these nice clean axles before I take them out and get them dirty!

Yeah it's tall, but expecting to lose a few inches in rear when I remove the add a leafs (wanted to get front tires on before screwing around with the rear again). I could concievably get the front down another 2" if I did a thru frame hanger - but kinda nervous about tackling that - still debating. Otherwise - the stock springs should settle to near flat or slightly inverted.

Kinda getting used to the tallness - doesn't seem so bad of front, and with the rear expected to end up 3" lower I think it'll be stable - remember I've got 2.5" backspacing on the beadlocks and 38's - so the track width is a bit wider.

go ahead, take another leaf out....Ya still gonna need a step stool !

Other leaves will only be good for a 1/8" drop each at this point. Not worth it.

I can still get in my 40 - step stools are for oldies who can't get it up :flipoff2:

Ordering a flat pitman arm today - it's pricey so if anyone's got one lying around for a 1 1/8" sector shaft and with enough meat to allow for a 1 ton TRE - let me know ASAP.

Arrrrrgh: Need shocks and brakelines $$$.

I'll give ya $200 for that soft top. :flipoff2:

No way, Jim - everyone knows, when Bill upgrades I get the cast-offs! How do you think I've been able to build my rig up over the last 2-3 years?

Brake lines are cheap.. there is part numbers for them in tech....

Save your money for Madeleine's new FJ Cruiser :D

parts numbers for the brakes brotha... # 22-1/2" long frame-to-axle brake hose for SOA - NAPA 38009
# front axle outer hoses (skips backing plate) - NAPA 38881 (longer) or 38878 (shorter)

Rolling Temporarily - Garage Bound

Thanks for the brake line info Al - Bret also gave me some good leads on how to make up your own.

Most everything lined up tonight - going to pull rear add a leafs tomorrow and see where I stand. Mike M. has 3 different sized sets of shackles I may borrow to see if the front might go a bit lower. Otherwise I'm kinda happy with it - and it'll settle an inch at least after a bit o wheeling.

Eric - get a pic with the 35's up pronto eh!

Bill that looks awesome - and you've got a killer approach angle!

I'm optimistic about this weekend. The weather is going to be clear and 85 degrees or so. Perfect for wrenchin.

I should at least be able to roll the Cruiser out on 4 wheels and maybe get the brakes back up.

If I can get the brakes back together and bled in time I may even be able to take a spin.

We'll see...

I dont runa any dust shields and it sooo much easier to work on the knuckle with them gone. Just cut them up but leave the center ring where it bolts on( to use as a spacer). then run the longer brakes hoses the (PN's i posted) and you can take your caliper off and sit it on the leaf spring when working on the knuckle....

Ill post pics tonight maybe!

Okay, that does make some sense to me. It would be a little easier to strip things down, change a birf and reassemble. Maybe I'll put that on next year's mods list.

Dust shields are gone - gonna cut them up tomorrow to salvage the space related parts. Eric do the same. Expecting pics.

Progress pics: nothing much happenin got the rear discs in this week and a new wind shield. Next week new front rotors and pads so the brakes will be set to go. (80series MC, rear discs , 4 runner calipers)

Also working on the last 2 years of wheeling and rust, got a gal of touch up paint and plan on banging the rear back out from to many smacks on rocks :D

I have a huge list of parts to put in...all boxed up and waiting for me to have some free time to put them in. But being that i have 2 jobs and also go to school full time, drive 400 miles a week, full time girlfiend and cant have the cruiser down for more than a night makes it harder than all hell to get anything done..

parts laying around to go in...

P.S. cooler, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, new rad, hoses, Toyo water pump and Alt, Toyo vac lines, Smog idler, fan clutch, used longfields, winch, rock lights, seals, more parts than i can think of really.. been gathering them for months for GSMTR..

I called up and found the bender I want and next saturday I am making the trip up to jaxs to get it...and nope not gonna tell ya what i am making with it;)

I all but gave up working on the 80 for right now until GSMTR passes ( but if anyone knows anyone with a 4bt cummins they want to get rid of let me know)...

Here are some pics..kinda lame but thats all i got done so far.

Ill post up more when i weld up the new shock bar and tweek the rear suspension set up. This week I am picking up some steel to fab up my ARB to fit the 8274...pics coming soon...

When you do that, you replace the soft and hard lines with a single soft line right?

I got a lot done this weekend. The Cruiser is sitting on all four tires and is as tall as the height of the garage door when opened. I need to adjust the garage door opener travel distance and I'll get another 1-2 inches so things will be fine there.

I'm going to pony up for a silver star in the next day or so. Here's a teaser...
