How about an additional safety factor, tie your trucks together like the hikers do on the mountains.

OMG that must have been painful, God rest their souls....

Oh no, we're still goin' Steve but words can only describe whereas the video actually shows it. One things for sure, you'd better damn well trust your spotter cause one false move puts you down the mountain.

whoa i like to feel happy thinking about gsmtr, not watch people die

Ted, we gonna do this trail too....without winches??? :hhmm:

http://youtu.be/J38jHjrzqAQ

hell yeah we're doing rail trail but will probably need a winch. That said, it looks like the left side may be doable since the we last went through that section -- shown up to about the 2:00 mark. The top I don't know though, we somehow missed that last go around. :hhmm:

We really should start getting a list of trails together and plan accordingly. As you know some are days away from camp and would hate to waste time on a crappy trail. I've been poking around on http://www.knoxoffroad.com/forums/index.php for ideas and it looks like trail 81 might be worth looking at too.

yup. cool trail if you ask me. I'd like to re-run the same 39 that we did over New Years but instead of taking that crappy 40A bypass go through Rail Trail to the coal pile.

16 to the waterfall almost seems mandatory but I've read it's not all that entertaining

Do they call it rail trail because it's only wide enough for a rail buggy? That junk looks stupid narrow.

Sammy--you're pretty narrow, you should fit no problem :flipoff2:

Im sure with enough speed you could launch over the whole section that Ted likes:hillbilly::hillbilly:

Might be a rough landing though...:grinpimp:

True that! I'll try it. I have to try to be like my hero Steve.

That would require my truck to be able to go fast, which it cannot. :(

16 is one of my favorite trails at windrock but your quote is correct. Its very cool trail and waterfall is worth seeing but when dry its a very easy trail for built rigs

I've been hoping to do exactly that with y'all. But I didn't push too hard since I'll be there so early and can hopefully get some first hand experience with some of the trails in question. I especially hope to get waaaay up to the north side early in the week to let everyone know, buggies and wagons, if it's worthwhile.

I agree with getting to the coal pile again. That section was scenic with that and the little neon brown runoff streams.

VERY not entertaining. The waterfall might be worth seeing if there's a ton of water coming down, but otherwise, IMO, its definitely not worth the trail ride. Wagon guys and "Sunday afternoon drivers" might enjoy it. Its just a long, twisty, up and down trail with a medium level smooth cascade waterfall at the end.

No, I think it's due to the old rail system that used to be up there to get the coal out. The part of the trail Ted is referring to has some evidence of it still up in the woods. Some old tram wire and wheels and pulleys and such - and the coal pile he mentions is REALLY cool to experience.

But yes, that little gnarly section is very "width sensitive". :)

ok, so 16 is off the list for sure then. I need to find my map and start doing a little research.

And only cause I'm an attention whore, from 12/11 ride

:flipoff2:REALLY?!?! Why do you have to put us "Wagon Guys" with the "Sunday afternoon drivers". Some of us "wagon guys" still like to get out and RAPE IT'S ASS TOO! :) that's why we buy armor and skids:flipoff2:

Thats some good supervising right there....

BTW, that trip and specifically that trail was the defining moment when i decided to chop up the 80 and make a buggy...

The term "wagon" is widely used to describe the faint of heart wheeler that doesnt want much damage. You Sir Rance are not a "wagon" wheeler, along with some other guys who drive the wide body cruisers. :grinpimp:

Rance, you're not quite in the typical wagon crowd anymore. MOST "wagon guys" are armored for the occasional accident, not like me where I utilize my armor for picking my lines. You're with us buddy!

Rance if you dont have any exo cage and at least three t-cases you aint s***! :p
Thanks for the compliment Andy!
But, in my NON-defense, if its wet out, my rig is close to worthless. Ted's truck is much more of an "all around" good wheeler due to power and wheel speed abilities.

Thats some good supervising right there...
What, you looking like you're about to take a leak into Ted's driver's window from above??? :hhmm:
