Registration is open for the 22 Annual GSMTR, May 13-18, 2013. Register at www.stlca.org/gsmtr/register/ . This year’s event will be at Windrock Park, near Oakridge, TN. This park has over 300 miles of trail from mild to wild, no matter what level of truck you have you can ride new trails every day for a week. Your event registration includes 6 days of primitive camping and use of the rest rooms and showers. The park has nice 4 man bunk cabins, 8 man deluxe cabins and full RV hook ups near the event area, but these are open to the public during the event, so if you want one you need to reserve now. For park and cabin info go to www.windrockpark.com. Here is the link to the campground layout- http://www.windrockpark.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/WindrockPark-2.pdf

AWESOME! Windrock sounds great :)

Get some rear quarter protection on that 62 so you can go on some of the good trails at Windrock...

Dammit i just got sliders... theres always something haha.

edit: Is windrock as bad as Beasley in the wet?

We motored all around Windrock in the rain one day, my 40 and a few 100s, with not a lot of problems. I'd say 90% of Windrock was built for 60s! Lots of cruising, trail views, etc. You'll love it.

And I'm going! Can't wait. Plan to bring the 100 this time, kids and 40 in tow!

No doubt WR provides many miles of easy/moderate trails some tailor made for wagons but they can get tight in places. Windrock rates their trails based on the difficulty of the total trail, meaning that if 1 obstacle on an easy 5 mile long trail is difficult then the entire trail is rated as difficult -- 1 or 2 back diamonds.

RBambi-- sliders will be used and should get you through most of it no problem but there can be tight spots, just watch your lines,

Yeah i saw the video of you guys and Nick sliding down the muddy hill climb back towards you guys
Looked like a really good time though haha.

Thats a pretty smart way of rating the trails. And I'm trying to get an auto locker in the next couple days to maybe get me a little further down the trail than normal.

Andy posted on the TN site but thought it worth posting over here as well. A few of us have been talking about running trail 75 during GSMTR and now that I've watched the video I'm questioning my own sanity.

never mind these guys aren't wearing seat belts but the scary section starts around 21:35, well worth watching

Give it a year, this trail will have truck skeletons littering the sides of the mountain.

I am sure the video makes it look worse

Showed the video to Miranda and she said if I didnt die on the trail, she would kill me when I got home...

Dang, and I thought I made it sound bad...:meh:
You guys make it seem death-defying! I'm gonna have to start revising how I talk about it and make it seem like no big deal in hopes somebody will still want to do it.

Don't get me wrong though, I probably won't go if it's gonna be real wet. Not only would the trail be lots harder, scarier and treacherous, but the overlooks wouldn't be as gratifying either.

Oh no, we're still goin' Steve but words can only describe whereas the video actually shows it. One things for sure, you'd better damn well trust your spotter cause one false move puts you down the mountain.

A cage will make little difference if you screw up on that trail. As Roger said "if you go off the left side its open casket,if you go off the right side its closed"

Well then I guess I'm out bc I don't want to have a casket open OR closed anytime soon.

I'd forgotten about Roger's description - it is very good. :)

And Sam, like Ted mentioned and I strongly agreed with, a good spotter is all you really need. Super low gears are REALLY nice on this trail too though. Hmmm, I guess I need to add that to my list of reasons that Ted will have the highest pucker factor in our group. Haha

Hello yall... i will be attending but ummmm this trail of death??? I aint sure ill be doing that...:)

I will have my new gears in by GSMTR :grinpimp:

bite me (for now) but who knows what happens b/w here and GSMTR. Dual cases are either 2nd or 3rd on the list of priorities competing with the car hauler and the Co/Ut trip.

sweet--now lock the front and get a winch. I know exactly where that avatar pic was taken. :flipoff2:
