I thought you couldn't wait that long.![]()
Just wait a couple of months and you'll be seeing new aux tank offerings from companies like Out of Town 4wd (The Long Ranger) and Long Range Automotive both Australian companies. They'll likely have something in the ~44 Gallon capacity. Their past tanks have been well designed to use most of the nooks and crannies and optimize the empty space under there.
You're going to get a much better set-up if you wait for these guys to come out with their aux tank than if you modified an existing tank. And I think this group buy is dead. Check with the original poster.Who wants to wait!??!?!?!
Well my brother in law is a welder so I was talking to him and mentioned about he replacement tank I want to get.
He said the easiest thing would be to purchase the one for the previous model and then we can easily change it to fit my truck.
That sounded great...until I just realized something......The gas tank is on the OPPOSITE side (passenger now) then the previous models (drivers side).
I wonder if that is TOO much of a difference to fix up.....

I've also asked the Long Ranger folks for the cost of the TR52 (gas only) tank and including that in the group order - awaiting a reply from them.
Maybe we can do a group install party!
Talk to Kevin Speicher (Mangler)....he brought in the last group buy of these tanks a couple years ago with the assistance of Seth...?? can't think of his last name right now....PV Cruisers....he brings containers over from OZ and coming by boat made the transport much less ugly.
Since Kevin is now involved in his own commercial enterprise:
Baja Overland
...perhaps THEY could work something out for those customers who are interested.
Couldn't hurt to ask him.
Have you seen Boston Mangler's Long Ranger tank write-up on his 80? His came aux tank only and he needed to source the rest of the system.
There was an option to buy it as a kit with a dual filler, button, wiring, etc... but LR only offered NEW parts and the pricing was INSANELY high!![]()
For the record, Paul May from (EQUIPT Expedition Outfitters - Home) has the Front Runner 45 gallon transfer tank on his 100 series featured in the new edition of Overland Journal. Now that is a bunch of gas!

ing. At gas pump station:
Original + Secondary Tank = 42 Gallons x $3.80 (California) = $160![]()
