i have handles out of a 90 in my 84!!!!
Don't know if the different years will interchange, but on my '95 4runner, I pulled an upper passenger side handle from the boneyard....and put it on the drivers side. The threaded holes are under the trim, I guess for the left hand drive models.
Since my A-pillar handle is gone to make way for maglite clips, the new handle makes it much easier for the wife to get in and drive.......but I hit my head on it from time to time.

Well Pappy, it took 4 days for you guys to come up with the answer.... must not have been easy! 
Hehehe I don't have any junk yard within an hour of me... and the close ones suck... That's the only thing I miss about Indiana... Good junk yards.... Thanks for the info!!!

they will work, i have one out of a 1990 on my 84, and yes the nuts or threads are already there.
i want to put some on my windsheild pillars, next so i do not know if those are already got the threads.
