This has been a fun process. My head went to the machine shop. A guy went to the shop to pick his parts up and got my head by mistake. It is now in Ohio and my mechanic is trying to get it shipped back. We shall see...

My mechanic got the head back from Ohio, but it came without the shims and lifters. The machine shop is refusing to replace them. I am trying to source them myself. My mechanic is taking the cost of the parts off of his final bill. Apparently there are only 17 lifters in the United States. 
I ordered the 13 that McGeorge has. They told me that they are on back order 3 - 4 weeks. I ordered 11 from a dealer in Florida, because they are not part of the Toyota USA parts system. I hope they have them. Partsouq has none available. any other places that I can look that may have them? Specifically looking for any Japanese sights that I may be able to order from. Any help would be appreciated.

A quick update - The pandemic has made getting parts difficult. Parts are starting to trickle in, but I am still waiting on the remaining parts for the valves to hopefully get the job done. I have reached out to @Japan4X4 to hopefully get the remaining parts sooner than where I currently ordered from. I was planning on this being done before Christmas, but that is slipping away. Now I am hoping to get it done before the end of January. 
I have a pile of accessories and things to go on the inside of the 80 once I get it back sitting in boxes and bags on my table saw in my garage.

The glorious sight of OEM parts! Christmas arrived two days early for me as the last of the parts for my head arrived. Like Santa, I checked my list twice to make sure that I, indeed, had all the part necessary.

I went to my mechanic and he informed me that the machine shop machined my old head. Good for resale, but I then had to buy new valve seals. Will pick those up tomorrow and deliver them so the machining of the new head can commence.

Making the last purchases (?) for engine rebuild. The only advantage to this process dragging out is that my wallet has recovered. I purchased a new OEM fuel filter, Aisen fan clutch, and OEM exhaust studs for the rebuild. I was also convinced to purchase new cams so this build will officially be a completely new long block!

After looking at Overland Cruiser's "A '96 FZJ80 gets some spa time" thread I decided to purchase a new radiator. I ordered a Denso from Summit Racing. I figured it would be prudent to mate a brand new motor with a new radiator.
Also going to order the Powerbrake X-Line 4x4 Big Brake kit. I want more stopping power. Too many foolish drivers in California. We all know how long it takes to stop our 80s. I always give myself proper distance, but fools like to cut in front in Cali if their cars will fit.

Did a little project while waiting for the engine to be completed. In post #90 I found a replacement seat shield cover and handle However, they were the grayish blue cover. I have been searching for a color matched one without luck. They seem to be unobtanium. I came across another post here on Mud where the poster had painted his. I asked what he used and set about to paint mine. The can of spray paint was expensive at about $25, but I couldn't be more pleased. I thought I would get something that looked pretty good, but it looks like the original color to me. It is the little details that get me excited about the 80. One more step to getting this back to its original glory.

I finally got the last parts to complete the head. The new Denso radiator should be arriving this week.
I can now take these to the machine shop and get the GG 80 back on the road!

Just when I thought I was done buying parts I had a conversation with @deathvalleypaul.
I told him that I bought a new radiator and fan clutch. He told me that I should check the fan for cracks because someone he new had one explode and destroy the radiator. Went to partsouq and found the part number for the Aisin replacement and ordered it on Amazon. I didn't feel like running down to my mechanic to check. Might as well make it new also. It's only money...
In other parts of the build the new head should be ready to be picked up from the machine shop on Monday. My mechanic has been stressed about having my 80 at the shop so he wants to finish it and have it on its way. I'm in agreement with him on that. Hoping to have it back by the third week of February.
Also planning on taking the 80 to Cruise Moab in late April. I'll be there with Goose Gear along with Brian, the owner, who is bringing his 60. This will be my first time to Moab - so looking forward to it.

Planning to make it to cruise Moab this year too - also a first timer.The new Denso radiator arrived. This should be the last part I need to purchase for the long block build.

As usual, there were more parts to order to get this complete. I completely forgot to order the gears, pins, retainer clips, etc that attach to the end of the cam shafts. The fresh fan for the Aisin fan clutch arrived.

***Update*** Picked up the completed head today from the machine shop (of course, I forgot to take pictures) and dropped it off at my mechanic. It looked so nice I told the machinist that I just want to stick a piece of glass on top of it and turn it into a coffee table. My mechanic told me that he will start on it on Monday. I'm hoping to have a running Land Cruiser in a couple of weeks. It's been 10 long months since it's been operational! I told the mechanic that I will be coming by every day to take pictures. Thankfully, his shop is only five minutes from my work so I can go down on my lunch. I want to hold his feet to the fire to make sure he gets it done. I want to take pics so all of my compatriots here on mud can make sure it's done right!

Still waiting for the engine to be replaced. In the interimI got some more parts today. I'm replacing the window belt moulding. The box in the back is new drip rail moulding. I wanted to get these before they were NLA. Mine, like most 80 owners, is in bad shape.
