I grew up around pittys and they love all people and kids NATURALLY. Don't slam the breed because of some idiot kids. They are very loyal and I would think a no brainer for protection from errant wildlife. Now I am sure you have your reasons and I respect that, just please don't blame the breed. We could go on for hours on that one.

what a bunch of "idiot kids..."

Had a three years old killed by a Pit In Apple Valley, dad said the kid was only with the dog for three minutes..................

Guess no one ever remembers that "Petey" from the original Little Rascals was a pitty.

Was out mowing for the first time last night and the kid down the street was walking dad's roided out looking pit. It was wagging and wasn't barking, but all I could do was look at my 4yo daughter on her trike and think, what if . . . .

They're just too unpredictable and when they do snap, they kill. They don't just bite and run. A woman I went to school with had one and it was a super friendly dog. But the way the ones in my neighborhood are raised, who knows. I wish they'd turn on their owners more often.

The dog most likely had issues because the owner had issues. They, like all dogs with the word bull in the name, can require more training because they are stubborn, very stubborn. Early socializtion is key with any breed and child tolerance is not always there with ANY breed.

We could go on discussing this at length but this is neither the time or place. They guy ia asking options for HIS home. If he does not want a pitty, so be it. They are not the dog for everyone either.

PLEASE enough said about pittys. Let's help this guy and not lose track here.

burmese are nice too, but I am looking for low maintenance.

no shedding, no barking, no smelling...

am I asking too much?

For all of these the answer is a Basenji (African barkless dog).

We had one of these and while there is no barking, stinking or shedding they are a wee bit rambunctious.

Wouldn't be "my" first choice, but would be in the top 10.

the problem with pits is people who own them who think they are fine.

they are not.

if a pit got anywhere near my son, I would kill it, I don't give a **** how nice it appeared to be. stupid ****ing dogs.

Nice.

So YOU would KILL an innocent dog because of your OPINION, NOT beacuse it hurt anyone?

Profiling?

Ignorance is bliss, isn't it?

I think we have do this argument before, no one has been convinced otherwise before. I think insurance companies have it right.

Any dog balsy enough to be an even half threat to a cougar is probably not the kind of animal that a little kid s/b wandering around with unsupervised.

I vote that you make sure his best buddy is the neighborhood fat kid.
