Might be too late now, but when you pull the balancer off, feel for a groove where the seal rides. I had this problem on mine, and even a new seal would still leak. What I did was make a spacer out of a piece of 16 ga aluminum that pushed the seal just a little deeper into the oil pump, so the "lip" of the seal was riding on a different spot. No more leak, nice and dry now.

I got a leak at the bottom bolts tried thread sealant and permatext didn't work. Depending what time I get off tomorow I'm going. Up yanking oil pump off cleaning it up puting near rear seal in it with a dab of permatext to keep it from falling out of position again. And puting that back together. Gonna redo them half moon gasket on back of vlve cover. And move one gear tooth counter clockwise on the dizzy. Sunday night I had it runni g just didn't have power and oil was coming out . sounded great . once it's running stopping by part store grabing peice straight pipe and four band clamps ditching the cat no emissions where I live. And reclamping the pipes at the muffler with band clamps . I did all this dam work I don't want t a exhuast leak any more till a rock and tree rips dat s*** apart hehehehehhahahahahahahaha

Then if I don't work sat I'm goin to va to look at hopefully the new house me the wife and kids are moving beings landlord is planing on moving back in and we gota go. Hopfuly I can keep hunting permission I got them deer pegged now

Keep in mind that any vacuum leaks, will cause the engine to run crappy. It can be the obvious stuff at the manifold, or odd places like the rocker arm cover, or the oil dipstick. Anyplace air can get in will effect how the truck runs.

When I had it running it ran fantastic sounded better then ever. But I'm one tooth out on the dizzy. I picked up another oil pump houseing today from the guy I got the head from. Heads off a 93 my truck a 86 new head had difrent injectors smog stuff exc. Was the head any difrent on the newer motor

Heads are the same. Injectors changed over the years.

Well she lives can hit atleast 90 I think she might hit 100 if I realy wanted to push it . and don't mean the motor mean my life. I still got a driving leak on oil pump. Dropping from bottom right bolt. Seems as though oils coming down from the bolt above it maybe or its just leaking at that bottom right bolt. Both my cat converter exhuast gaskets leak. I'm hearing a random missfire tiny backfire from exhuast. Could this be from the cat gasket leaks. Or more likely a burnt valve?

The top bolt (the one under the timing scale) I'd supposed to have sealant on it.

Then I should be able to just remove the pullys pull that bolt squirting some permatex on it and put it back in?

Whenever I'm doing a rebuild, I have the camera on a tripod to record everything. Sometimes building the engine is simpler than trying to reconnect all of the plumbing and parts.

I got it all back together. Got a random miss fire pop in exhaust can't figure that out but. I was able to pull a 4x7 trailer 5 hours at 70 to 80 on 32 Inch tires with a 42 inch zero turn John deer . Around 500 lbs or mof tools from va to baltimore up interstate 81. Got 16 mpg that trip. Best milage so far is pulling the trailer empty tailgate folded down 18.7 mpg doin 70 to 80 mph
