No. It doesn't appear to be much different at all. Of course I haven't driven it yet. The pedal might be quite a bit more stiff. Mostly I just wanted the luxury.

Nice swap. Where are you getting vacuum from for the boosters?

I'll be putting a 12HT in my FJ45. The motor is almost on it's way here.

Vacuum on these engines comes from a vacuum pump attached to the back of the alternator. I just learned about this myself when starting this project.

One of the pics above shows the dual vacuum reservoir, also required.

Hey Goat! I hadn't checked out your thread until just now. So far your project looks fantastic! I would love to come down and check it out sometime. How far off do you think you will be until yiou have it running?

Clint

Hey Clint,

Come on down. I'd like to have the old goat running by Christmas, but that might be a bit optimistic. We'll see. I'm in the middle of a wiring jungle right now. Pretty tedious task to merge two totally different electrical systems.

PM for directions and contact info when you want to arrange.

Thanks for your interest.

The rest of Dec is tied up with work and family. I will get a hold of you after the first of the year! Good luck and have a great Christmas!!

State of the Goat Address

I figured it's time for an update. The old Goat is close to driving out of the garage.

Just a few more things to do. These pics show some of the things recently completed.

The clutch is finally plumbed, filled and bled. I used a SOR SS brake line to make the extension.

Electrical mods are nearly complete. The big relay on the quarter panel is a jump relay that merges the aux battery and starting battery circuits in case the starting battery is drained. The relay panel has relays for the starter bendix, glowscreen, air compressor, off road lights, and a spare for whatever I might want to power in the future.

Idle up and shut down VSVs are installed and wired.

G&S sold me a BJ-60 pedal, pushrod, and bellcrank. These bolt right in. Now I just need a cable.

As you can see from the second pic, I had to modify the exhaust heat shield a bit to clear the pedal.

I have used the same linkage on both a 1hz and 1hd-t install, all you need now is a custom made cable.

Looking good.

Thanks guys.

I just received the call that my custom PS hose is ready to pick up.

I'm starting to get really excited. Almost done! :D

It Lives!!!!

Last night I installed a custom PS hose and modified my fuel filler neck. Tonight I poured in the first 5 gallons of B20. I primed and bled the fuel system.

The new and improved Bio-Goat fired on the first crank. Didn't run for long though. It took a few tries to get the air out of the injector lines. After that, purrs like a kitty - a really big kitty. :D

Only two issues remain between me and the maiden voyage. Exhaust gaskets and throttle cable. Both of these are in the works.

Definitely need a video clip. The only place I have heard the 12HT is in Chris Scott's Desert Driving. Sounds soooooooooooo NICE!

Oh! And Congrats on the swap!

Thanks guys. I'll see what I can do on the video clip. There are some technical challenges to overcome to make that happen.

Sweet swap dude. You will love the turbo D and also running on bioD; it is the best of both worlds in so many ways. Nice work on the the little custom fabs here and there and the wiring/relays, very meticulous.
