The stock pipe is 2.5" and then reduces to 2.125".

Thats similar to the system that was on my hj75 to begin with. You will find later if you fit a mandrel 3 inch system it will change dramatically. I envy your 12HT  direct injection.:grinpimp:

Well keep in mind that I am operating from ignorance. I haven't actually done any serious water crossing to date.

LOL, I was expecting an explosion:whoops: from the hot turbo driving into the crossing, fingers crossed LOL.. We have had about 600mmm of rain in the last week so much for our drought here.Other places have bushfires. That's Oz.

Goat,
Hw is your noise levelwith your exhaust? I went 3" all the way back thought life was good. However I took the maiden voiage beyond around town this weekend to Newport hwy 20 from Bend. Lots of up and down left and right. I have to say the exhaust is loud! real fun and kind of novel for the fist hour. However, not so much after 3 hours. I am now looking at high flow bullet resonators to quiet the drone abit. We will have to see would love to hear your experience and feed back.

Mines a bit loud too, but only with the window open. As far as interior noise, I plan to get Dynamat or similar.

Glad to hear that you are driving! How do you like the new power?

Is yours a petrol or a turbo diesel? Turbos usually muffle the exhaust quite a bit...

Turbo diesel. Yeah, the turbo cuts a lot of noise but I can still hear a bit of exhaust bark reflecting from passing cars and buildings.

x2, I fitted a 3 inch straight through muffler and it is so much better, especially on a long trip.;)

LOVE THE NEW POWER!!!!!!!:D The drive to the coast was great no worries and no loss of power. I did however get a highflow bullet resonator put on today and it does make a diference uphill and underload. I am very pleased with the 12HT.

I have all the way 2" straight mandrell bend exhaust and no big noise noticable anycase .. no more than a great psssssssss sound !

Project Update

This just in - Last weekend I installed OME Add-a-Leafs in the front spring packs. Pretty easy job. Seemed to improve my front end alignment too. :)

These extra leaves nicely offset the added weight of the 12H-T and eliminate the "stink bug" that the truck had even before the swap. I'd say I gained about 1" in the front. It'll drop a little again when I add a bull bar.

MPG so far has been around 16. Not as great as I would like. I should be getting about 23. I've had the injectors rebuilt, but there are still a few tune-up things I can do.

great job goat,, hopefully you will get the MPG sorted. 23 seems a bit high but you never know.
also try a magnaflow straight through, i have one on my 3" and i really like it.

Sorry I missed your question. I haven't checked this thread for over a year.

I had a vibration/noise issue that was related to the clutch. It went away when I later replaced the clutch.

But as far as drivelines, I was very careful to maintain driveline and flange orientation throughout the project. I realigned everything as it was before. No problems there.
