Build Gerry's Build thread: "If it happens again I'm buying an Abrams"

This thread has been suspiciously quiet for a couple of months. Either you have finally blocked me or bought a 200? Has Gerry been happy lately?

It's because he's a Prado man now.

You shut your whore mouth when you're talking about me!

Abe, it's been busy. Alex and I have been doing a bunch with the website, I began another leg of my home investment business, Gerry has been generally OK other than the things I've been complaining about for a while.

But, here are some updates!

COTR was great. Gerry did pretty well, especially considering there's something really screwy with the front driver's wheel. I suspect something is wrong the the rack, so that is on the list of black Friday items I'll be eyeing. She also needs new UBJs, as the SPC parts last about as long as the Cilantro bunches we buy every week.

Now that Houston has the GX (which, btw, fine car, not even close to par with the 100s), Gerry gets to come off of daily duty. She'd been *the* house vehicle for a while which makes what we do with her even more stupid. Eventually I'd like to ditch the rear seats and build a full-length platform in the truck. Other dreams, too, with these new long travel kits coming out. But short of another pandemic, that kind of sticker price is hard to justify at this time. Plus, I still want to do something fun with the SC. It's been idle for a few years just waiting.

The first week we had the GX, I was thinking 'OK cool, I don't need a 200 anymore. No need to have 3 3-row SUVs at the house'. But lemme tell you, I don't want to be driving this GX on long road trips like we have been in Gerry. Again, it's a fine car, but it's just... fine. Very clearly a lesser vehicle than the LX. The seats are not very comfortable; even though it makes more power the engine feels hollow and tinny, and to be honest, it feels like an Uber. We bought a good one, 1-owner with 100k on it, super clean inside and underneath. I would be so disappointed if I'd traded a nice 100 for a GX460. All that to say, I'm probably still gonna get myself a 570 in the future. She likes the GX though, so all of this stays here between us.

I thought of a perfect analogy for the GX vs the LX.

It's Pyrex.

If you know the difference between PYREX and Pyrex/pyrex, that is pretty much how I feel about the GX.
Then you won't like what I recently bought for my second/family car :D

Was it an X5?

sorry had an X5 for a while, now replaced with an X7

This one has "Supra" drivetrian

Oh! So you're, like, in a Toyota in spirit.

Kind of?

Works for me. I'm a fan of the B58.
Yes, am a fan of B58 too.
I will get off your front lawn here, and post more of my thoughts in my build thread.

Well, boys.. I did this over Thanksgiving break.

1 owner 2013 with 110k on it. Was not really ready to jump but the right truck came out. Right color, black guts, 20s, premium package WITHOUT radar cruise. Exactly how I'd have spec'd it. It's beautiful and feels like a spaceship compared to Gerry. Will be my new daily and roadtripmobile. Gerry will get to come off of house truck duty and spend her older years with less, but more concentrated stress. Trail/camping truck only now.

The 200 will be company for Ms Mongoose' new GX460 from about 2 months ago. Here they are both pictured at Thanksgiving together. I picked the 200 up near my parents' place and we'd driven the GX up for the week. I fly to VA on Wednesday to bring the 200 home to ATL.

Congrats on the 200 looks to be in great shape. I've been keeping them on the watch list as well with pricing becoming more reasonable

Bravo
Dare I suggest keeping this one stock with AHC? You already have a well-modified truck in Gerry, perhaps enjoy the 200 as Mr T. (Mrs L?) intended.

This is 100% my plan. This one will be a cream puff. It'll need to be, as iit'll likely be replacing my 560 😔

my favorite color LX in that generation.

Keep it nice and stock... for as long as you can haha
Stock as heck. I think just some nice tires, wheel spacers, and a sensor left. Not any kind of priority, although it does look pretty wimpy when I walk out to it.

Roof rack delete kit will be here any day now.
