I had an '87 x-tra cab 4WD 5 speed manual truck that had that exact console on the LEFT

I know this thread is long dead but just for completeness, the gray one on the left is exactly the one that came with my 89 4Runner SR5 4wd V6 5-speed.

I have a 89 4runner top shift t-case/it has the same console as the gray one.
hope that helps

Reviving this one. Anyone seen an 86 SR5 Xtra Cab without a center console?

Are those the original seats? Those are the fancy SR5 seats that many people hunt for. The bench seat is a torture device, very uncomfortable. So I'm surprised there's no center console in your truck, I thought all the SR5 trims got consoles.

The consoles with heater controls in the back are for 4Runners. There's generally 2 types of consoles, short and tall. The short one only has a single plastic lid over a thin compartment. The high consoles have a padded armrest, and 2 stacked compartments. Start looking though eBay or junkyards, you might get lucky and find one, but they are getting very rare. The plastic gets very brittle with age and sometimes they will just literally fall apart. There are no longer available from Toyota.

4rnnr has the double stacker and as KLF mentions, it is getting brittle. Patch had the single stack. Other than maybe the added arm rest height I think that I'd prefer one 1/2 way betweeen them and with only one storage area.
Seems like someone with a vacuum former and some time to build the mold could make replacements that while not looking exactly OE could be very esthetic and functional.

I had pretty much given up on trying to keep my console in good condition, and I went through several of the pieces that surround the shifters, they just cracked to pieces. Then when I swapped over to the R151F turbo tranny, it was impossible to find that uber-rare part. I had plans to make a surround with sheetmetal and fiberglass, then install a Tuffy behind it. Now it's @yotadude520 's problem :p

There's a Tuffy solution for my FSB, too. Every time I look at it I wish it looked better than it does because I need something like that in that truck. I've considered building a console around one of the deep, rectangular SS tubs like Subway uses for all of their ingredients as the inside part. Leave it loose to be lifted out from above. Then apply a release agent to it's exterior and full the underside of the console around it with urethane foam. Now it's a center console and a tiny cooler all in one. :)

I appreciate the help everyone. It seems that they are the og seats (sr5 trim according to vin)
Based on your descriptions this should work, yea? Do the sections go together with some sort of Christmas tree clip? Sorry about all the questions but this is all new to me.

I had it figured out that the skinniest Tuffy would work, but it would be tight.

I can relate to having a cooler in the console, now that I have a refrigerated center console. :p

That should technically fit, but you will need some brackets that are normally spot welded to the floor pan: one in the very front, one in the middle at the joint, and one under the storage area. You should have a W-series tranny, which has room in front for that little cubby tray. The problem I had when I switched to the R151F is the shifters are about 2" further forward, so the cubby had to go.

Patch was an '84 with a G trans. No front cubby like that, but that is close to what it had otherwise. The whole shifter boot opening was shifted fwd and it had a blank area between the rear of the opening and the aft portion of the console. IT was big enough for some switches, but I never wanted to cut it there.

On the 'round tuit list is to repalce the CTD's center console with the little used ARB fridge.

I know this is an old thread but on Sunday in picking up the top stack and pad for 86 4runner. A while back I picked up a 92 runner double stack that I fit into my 4runner. Does anyone know the width of the upper portion? I modded a round bluetooth radio to fit inside the upper portion but I really want the oem look of the 1st gen console so I will be doing the process all over and want to know if it will fit. If successful I will be posting the console for sale here before I post on ebay.
