Gas Cap

Anyone have a Rover nut near them? This cap is from a Series 2 Rover (58-71?) and is supposed to measure 90mm (3.5") on the outside. That would make it a tad smaller than the 25 cap.......but it does have three prongs. Worth a try for someone with no cap.

I believe Mike tried the ring an pinion numbers in one of my wish lists and they were no good. I can dig them up if you want to try. Or send you a diff if you need it.

My cap arrived from across the pond today.

IT WORKS!

It didn't even require any modification, although the outside edge of the prongs could use just the slightest shaving to make it smoother to take on and off.

Anymore information on where you got and cost? Did you buy a vent cap? Which style was it and did it included chain? I'm missing one for a FJ25 soft top tank and another from a FJ25 hard top/61 FJ40 fill neck that needs repair.

Silly question but need to know if stock FJ25 gas cap is vented? or fuel tank is vented?

Not a 25, but my 61 tank is definetly not vented. Pretty sure the big mouth filler neck is not vented either.

Thanks Jack, your 61 has the same filler neck as FJ25 and will use the large gas cap. I see there is a small vent hole in FJ25 gas cap inside and my phone camera picked up a little vent along the seam. Wow I answered myself - “Now this is first”.

My 61 filler neck is vented. There is a small weep hole on the side.
