All my Navy buddies were laughing at me when we were touring around Panama/Columbia/Guatemala cause I was drooling and photographing all the Toyotas. Where I was there weren't as many new models like Sam saw, but they were mostly 2nd & 3rd gen pickups - 90% of which were 4-door, 4WD, turbo diesels! I was trying to think of a way to get one on board the ship!!!

Isn't there some kind of exemption if you're in the military? I know you can ship your US vehicle if you're stationed overseas. Surely we can find a loophole to get a few Prados over here... :hhmm:

I don't know the ins & outs very well as I've not yet been stationed overseas, only deployed there. But yes, you can ship a vehicle when transferring. Being a car guy, I'd probly buy the most resellable vehicle I could afford before I left somewhere just to flip it when I got back. Either that or grab up a turbo-diesel 4x4 Yota for myself. Problem is, I can only do one I think. If I had some SERIOUS connections, I could probly drive whatever I wanted up on a MAC flight any time I wanted. THAT would be the hookup of all hookups!

I know that is how the Fiat I found made it in back in the 70s. I think they respect the DOT regs now though so the diesel would be a no go :(

I SO WANT ONE...diesel Prado completes me.

gotta be his first time up, looks like he's trying to hold a q-ball between his butt cheeks

this is how you check for oil leaks in the front of an engine block..and then find the rear pinion seal is bad.

looks like John had too many nattys and let the truck fall off the lift !

that's a 30* slope. We ran Beasley the other day and oil was leaking on to his alternator belt causing it to slip and stop charging. We looked all over and could not find the source so we just figured we'd replicate the Beasley hills that caused it.

In the end we got some leak dye and found 2 tiny leaks that were probably due to a loose bolt.

Damn iphone just posted the pics that way. Going back the weekend of the 21st and we are actually going fishing on the boat. I have never "sport fished" off shore, always just bottom fished for grouper and snapper. Hopefully we will catch some big blue marlins. We'll see.
