I have an aluminum radiator that was in Andre's 4bt powered cummins fj55...you're welcome to try it if you want.

I put my fan through the radiator on my 55 up at Rausch Creek and had the sweet smell of success (er...i mean antifreeze) glad you found out now rather than 200 feet into your first trail at Moab...

Thanks Brian - no need - second jb weld fix is holding strong. I'll try to post some details later this weekend. I've been so busy driving it and trying to work out the bugs I haven't posted any more pics or info.

Guage cluster is in and working... had to re-wire the entire unit, couldn't re-use any of the pcb... I soldered wires for about 10 hours straight, I even dreamed of soldering wires after I went to sleep that night...

Lance,
PCB=? I am assuming that you mean the OEM circuit board but best to confirm.

Yes, the OEM printed circuit on the back of the cluster. I had originally planned to keep the part of the circuit that applied to the guages that I kept but the wires I soldered to it made the circuit board brittle and prone to tearing.

So here's what we found with the fans...

The 2F/3FE fan clutch will not fit the 1FZFE. That's okay, because the 2F/3FE fan will fit the 1FZFE fan clutch. By swapping fans I gained quite a bit of room. The OD of the fan is approximately 17" where the 1FZFE fan is 18.5". The fan is far more rigid, and even has plastic gussets on the back of the fan blade. It does not stick out forward of the fan clutch like the tips of the 1FZFE fan, I would estimate that you save at least 3/8" in depth with the 2F/3FE fan.

For someone with cooling problems I would lament the swap to a smaller fan, but my radiatior is far bigger than I actually need, and with the fan shroud I'm pulling more than enough air. I pinched off 6 tubes and clogged 6 more due to fan destruction and I'm cooling perfectly with the new fan blade. I do have a new radiator on the way, but for now my "mud pie JB weld radiator" looks like it will hold for Moab...

On a side note, I'm pushing 20* cooler on the cold air intake side of my engine bay as measured by infrared thermometer.

We made it to Moab! FZJ40 did well, no problems. Didn't really run anything hard yesterday - just played around on 'fins-n-things'. The truck is incredibly stable, and the insane traction around here makes any truck super capable.

Today should be a better test. If the weather holds I guess we're headed to 'hells revenge' or something like that.

BK - you should have come with us! Did you get the pic I sent you from my phone last night?

Truck ran great yesterday - so far no problems at all. It's point and shoot. Very stable, very capable. I ran some stuff that others in our group had to winch.

Here are a couple more pics - these are from Hell's Gate.
