Doing frame off on 78 FJ45 to resell as classic. I don't see any reason to include this axel as the buyer will know less about than I do. What is it worth? Would trade for other parts. Disc brake and reg rear, winch or what have you. I am in Prescott, Az so shipping would be out of the question.

This is a classic restoration for resale and I always rebuild everything. I have no knowledge of the full floating axels. that is why I listed under 40 tech but the webmaster determined this part belonged in this section. Well now the rule is it must show a price to be in this section. I havn't a clue what it is worth. This is the first one I have ever seen.

Dude they are rebuilt easily with toyota off the shelf parts, the rear hubs are the same as the front, wheel bearings too. FYI- a stripped used axle will run 400-1000 bucks depending on who is selling it. I'd love to have one, but don't want the hassle of rebuilding another axle. I'd leave it on the truck

keep the full floater, much better than a semi float, I have one and did a disk brake conversion on it. It is maybe a little newer than yours though. check out www.man-a-fre.com see what disk brake conversion stuff they have. Full floats are pricey and hard to come buy.

Thanks for the help.
Sorry about being in the wrong section. This was posted in 40 tech but I guess the board thought it should be here in forsale. I don't agree as I am looking for info but that is out of my control.

Specter Off Road sells used FFloaters for 450$ (with axles but no 3rd member) dunno off hand what width the 45's are , same as 40 right?, SOR sells both 40 and 60 FF's at that price when they have em.

I currently have FF rear end in my 45, I also have some spare thirds from front axles. Will the front thirds fit into the ff rear axle?

FF

I havn't a clue. This is the first ff I have ever scene. I was looking for info in tech and the board put me over here. Some one told me that some came with posi trac/limited slip. Today I turned the pinion flange and sure enough both wheels turned the same way. Front and rear have heavy duty brake drums. I don't know how to post pix but email me and I will send a pix. kbill45@cableone.net

I know the 60 FF accepts 3rds from fj40's, and fj40 front and back 3rds are interchangeable. (dunno nuthin bout axles after the change in the 1980's)

Any gear set from a 40 or 60 will fit in a full floater out of a 45 unless it so old that the spline count is wrong. The front third members are usually good swaps into the rear because generally they have less mileage on them.
