Helps a lot! Thanks Juan!Hello,
Soft Top 73 Series have a different windshield and upper door frames, in order to attach the soft top.
If your 73 Series is from Japan, you can remove a few bolts and then the FRP top. You need to order the windshield frame and other parts. There are a few threads about this modification.
If your 73 Series is Colombia spec, it is a soft top truck with a locally made FRP top. This top attaches to the body with bolts in the rear and a lot of sealant. You have to remove the bolts and then cut the sealant for the top to come out. Putting the soft top in is a bit more straightforward.
Colombian soft tops have provision for four bolts and a plate to secure the side windows. This appears to be an anti-theft setup.
Hope this helps.
Juan
Mine is a Colombian model, so maybe the easiest available option!
There's a guy nearby who's converted similar cars to be 'quick release' or some sort of easier conversion between the FRP and the soft top. I plan to go soft top during summers ... but we'll see how hard it really is. It's gotta be better than my 1975 K5 Blazer!
