Decided to join the pre-order! Worst case scenario I end up trimming the sides, but with 33s and the unsupported wheel well liners I end up with occasional rub in reverse, even after pulling forward with zip ties and heat gun massaging.
Awesome! Just one more week until pre-order closes and then I'll start production.

I finally finished up the design for a higher bumper cut. I wasn’t sure what to do with the venting since my previous rib vent design wouldn’t fit.

That sent me down a rabbit hole of reviewing OEM designs and thinking through the pressure gradients around the radiator plenum and underbody. The short version is that the slots don’t meaningfully increase cooling and aren’t strictly necessary, but they help stabilize airflow through the radiator across different operating conditions. It’s not something I was able to model or test directly, but it’s enough to convince me they’re a net benefit.

Given that, I ended up going with a simple row of slots rather than deleting them altogether.

The entire front edge will be wrapped with the same EPDM bulb seal used on the other version and a strip of Buna-N foam between the filler and crash bar will keep things from rattling.
That looks great! As for cooling airflow, I have been running with the bottom open so I imagine there has been a lot of turbulence but I haven't ever had any cooling issues here in Texas with multiple hot summers. I bet this works great!

Can I do a pre-order for this version or are you needing more time on it?

I think you’re right that if you haven’t had any issues in HOT Texas summers as is, things can only improve 😂.

As for pre-ordering, I don’t need more time on it but I do need a representative GX to verify the design before I make it generally available.

I’ll DM you.

Sounds good. I'll be waiting. :) Really appreciate your work!

Pricing update! I caught a shipping double-count in the pre-order pricing 🤦‍♂️
Shipping’s included, so the price is coming down. Existing pre-orders will be refunded the difference.

Corrected price is live!

I could see something being possible, but not as it's designed right now. Really needs that front lip of the plastic bumper cover to attach to. Also, it can't be mounted any higher due to the vent rib sitting partially under the stock crash bar, as shown below.View attachment 4063380
Just thinking out loud here: I'm estimating that your cut is about an inch higher than mine, meaning the filler plate could be designed to attach directly to crash bar without spacers (if the vent rib were removed).

I'm not sure how much support the front edge of the filler plate needs, but one option would be to create small attachment brackets that get screwed to bumper cover. The screw heads would be visible.

I'll ponder this some more to see if I can come up with a good solution.
Hi there,
This is a great product. Is there any chance that it would work with the Sport trim design bumpers. Mine was cut (right below the chrome piece of the grill) and I’m wondering if there’s any way to make it work. I have attached a few pictures showing the bumper cut.
Thank you

Yes, it works. One of the first dev units I installed was on a Sport line bumper, albeit with the trim pieces removed. The underlying bumper cover is the same, only with holes for the extra trim pieces to attach to.
Can you try to share your photos again? Doesn't look like they made it into your post.

Sorry about that. I thought they attached… I suppose not. This should work now. Thanks

Thanks, the photos are very helpful.

I've been thinking through this and have a few concerns—not a no yet, just need to confirm a few things.
  1. Trim height along the front edge: It's hard to tell from the photos how high your cut is. Since the plate attaches directly to the crash bar in this variant, it extends in a flat plane below it. The leading edge is wrapped with a bulb seal that’s about 7/16” (11 mm) wide, so the bumper cut needs to sit low enough to cover that bulb seal.
Can you measure the distance from your cut line up to the bottom edge of the chrome trim? Or, placing a straight edge under the crash bar should give you a good idea of where the plate will sit relative to your cut.

  2. Fender liners: The bumper filler is designed to tie into them for a couple reasons. They help support the rear edge of the filler, and more importantly, they keep mud and snow/ice from piling up on top of the plate. Keeping the liners out of the tires is also part of it, though that's obviously not an issue in your case.

The support aspect isn’t a huge concern since the filler also attaches at the corners of the bumper cover. The buildup issue is more concerning to me. If enough mud or snow/ice accumulates on top of the plate, I'm worried it may eventually pull free from the bumper cover. Though it would probably take a lot for that to happen.

Possible solutions would be replacing the fender liners, or patching material back in to close that area—something like 1/16” ABS sheet or similar would probably work. May require a some heat molding to get the shape right.

Debated for a while if I should pick this up or just hold out and do a hidden winch mount. Ended up picking up one last night - though I think I will eventually end up having both. Hope it fits with the ARB skid plates haha.

Luckily did a very conservative cut in the past, so should fit right in.

Great, thanks for the order! Looks like you just made the cutoff for the pre-order 😂 And your cut line is ideal.

Regarding compatibility with your ARB skids, it should work without issue.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but could you make one to fit a 2010? I'm in Denver if you need a test subject.
Honestly, I hadn't considered it. I haven't seen many pre-facelift models with a trim, I guess because they have decent approach angles stock. Have you already trimmed yours?

I haven't yet, just got it two days ago :)
Congratulations!

I searched a bit for pre-facelift bumper cuts and only found viper cuts. If you happen to find something looks like what you want to do, that'd give me a better idea of what's possible. The frame and (I think) the crash bar are essentially unchanged for all model years, so it's theoretically possible.
