Trailer Question

Sorry, not trying to hijack the intent of the thread, but speaking of trailers, I am now in the market for a trailer for my 40. Is there anyone local that has car carryier that is looking to get out of it? or if anyone has an old derelict that needs rebuilt that could work as well....

let me know.

It looks like you need to lift your trailer :)

No doubt, it would take like 20 minutes to do a spring-over conversion. :D

-Spike (OK, maybe 30)

I guess I have a project for tomorrow then......weeeeeeeeeeee

I just rec'd an email from Cat Sampson stating that there are some vehicles in the area that need to be removed. I'm not sure that we will be able to handle this on short notice but if there's a car trailer in the club and someone willing to haul it we could deffinately put it to use.

If we can get it, some definition of “vehicles” would be good, a Tercel is one thing, but a ‘73 Cadillac is a whole other deal!:D Also are they accessible or down a cliff. I can probably bring a gas saw, so they can be cut into bite size chunks that will easily fit on smaller trailers.

The other potential issue is legally disposing of them. It’s my understanding that to take a vehicle to the scrap yard they require paperwork, title, dismantling permit, etc. If the vin is run on most of the derelicts out there, they may have things like stolen vehicle, etc, records attached to them. A simple official looking letter, form saying something to the effect of “this vehicle was removed from public land at the request of the forest service” would go a long way in eliminating any questions?

Me and the boy are in - as well as Tim is a definate maybe to haul out the derelict cars with a 35' gooseneck trailer, will we be able to get that bit of a rig in there?

The road is pretty good, think the Bumble Bee road to Crown King. IIRC when you drop into the canyon there is a set of switchbacks , the relatively tight turns may cause problems with a long train like that? This may be why the forest service wont bring a roll off back there.

Haha...I got bored tonight...

Now I just need bigger tires.

What size are those tires, like 31s? What kind?

You guys driving in on the Flume road?

Remember, alot of the 'trash' around Fossil Springs is 'toilet waste'

There is toilet waste in most places, we are after the beer cans, cars, washing machines, etc.

Howdy! Any word from the Ranger folks about details on cars and big junk? I have a small blow torch I can bring if needed. Like you suggested earlier, we may need some help in the legal department if we are scrapping vehicles. Now, on the otherhand, if the Rangers have a truck/trailer/dumpster in the area, then it is their responsibility to do the final disposal. John

Howdy! Are we planning on camping in the same spot as last time, next to Bman's favorite pool? Is anyone going to skip the meeting Friday nite, and go up to camp out for 2 days? John

The meet is the next week, on the 21st.

I propose that we meet and use that spot as the main parking, camping area. Does anyone have good mapping software that shows it, so we can post a map to it?
