I've been trying to DD my 40 for a while (disc brakes and power steering would help). Its been tough to do. I drove a 70 bronco through college and it was my only vehicle- it had front discs and a v8 and was more manageable and it was noticeably bigger As much as I know it's sacrilege- If someone wanted to trade me straight across for a 4 door jeep it'd be mighty tempting. Luckily they hold their value like crazy so I'm "stuck" in the 40 for the time being :)

I'm planning on DD'ing my 40 with drums all around and as much power as I can give the steering. I take it I may regret it?

Not necessarily- but I'll be interested to see. Keep us posted. What are you driving now? For me, black vinyl seats in the summer w/ no AC means I tend to arrive to meetings a little disheveled.... I actually drive it more in the winter because it's easier to dress for warmth than for 90 degree days.

Well it's in the middle of a strip down and mild resto. I drive my wife's old altima or the new car now. The 40 will be better than the Altima no matter what. My commute is only about a mile a day and sometimes I run around town which may be 5 or 6 miles max. Prattville is pretty small really, so I have no long trips at all.

Your in Prattville!? Let me know if you ever need any help working on the 40. I'd love to see this thing!

A440F auto tranny from a 1988 FJ62. $250. Have the thing in Tallassee. Not many FJ62 drivers around but putting this out there just in case someone somewhat local needs a tranny.

I might take you up on that the next time I come back to bham...

Next time someone sees a local 80-series part-out... holler. I need a whole bunch of things!

The soft lines by the knuckles or the ones in the middle of the axle?

yes. LOL.
Of course, the 91-92 have a crazy banjo fitting.
Honestly, I'm not interested in old rotten lines, only one that may be newer before part-out...

But, do you know of one?

No I had some new extra middle ones that are laying around and a couple of old get you home banjo lines.

Sent from my iPhone using magic

new lines for the frame to axle? Extended, or stock?

I need to overhaul my entire brake system. Think I'll buy the longer T-100 lines.

the trail spares ACC let me have when I blew a line was better than the extended line ironman stuff I bought as a replacement. I would ask Brian what that was he gave me, I think it was a corola line but I am not certain.
