It read $6k. I don't really follow 80s, but it seems like a good price.
$6,000 for a white four door SUV?! Man, there's a white four door SUV with a for sale sign right by my office for $3,500; might even be an 80, though I think it's a Suzuki Sidekick....so hard to tell them apart ya know. 
If you see it at a gas station it's probably an 80...

No way to tell until you dig into them - Lots of variables just in the term "V-8".
As Steve said, V8 doesn't mean much by itself. V8 carb, V8 TBI, Vortec, all will influence the price. I've seen V8 installs that were clean, and I've seen hack jobs. Also what tranny? The truck is sprung under, so nothing special. It does look like it has a spring lift.
As Ali noticed, that diamond plate is covering up the most rusty parts known to an FJ40, with the exception of the rear sill. I suspect that truck is a rust bucket.
Just from what I see I would cut the price in half, and go up or down from there. It would need to be super clean to get close to $8K. This also looks like an otherwise unmodified truck (no lockers, winch, protection, etc).
I remember when I was searching I looked at a pretty red FJ40. From the street it look great. Up close you could see the rust cancer bulging through the paint. They didn't even try to fix the rust and just painted over it.
In my world, that's called a "butter face."

40s are off the charts lately. This is the second article I've seen about them fetching high prices. Granted this has a v8, but it's inline with others similar to it. I think it's ridiculous, too, but they aren't making any more of them.
if anyone is looking at possibly moving into a 100, there is one listed that looks pretty good in the pics, and reasonable priced as well.
Two things to note:
Likely not very old pics, I see the "blue" recycle bin in the background, and they only started distributing them in the last year on the west side. However, there is a temp tag on in the pics, so this is likely a car owned only for a short period of time for the seller.

Good color and already has A/Ts.
That's a darn good price if the miles are reasonable and everything is in good shape. Mine still books at about $12K, but it only has 110k miles on it. The stick-on emblems are in the wrong place on the rear liftgate and tailgate though. I wonder if it has a salvage title.
This has me thinking.
