I wish I had my 40 together, but it has an 1986 350 sbc, 700r4, 241 tcase, with a rear centered fj40 diff and a fj40 front diff with a brand new softop.

Any info on this 55, number or is it still 4 sale? I want to swap all my blazer stuff into it, check my link below.

I'll drive up there and see if it sold. I can now take pix.

His phone # is listed in the first post.

Is This Still For Sale

bummer...

well, if anyone is interested, I can look @ this thing for'em... I'm only a few miles away... I'll give an honest report... I have the exact truck, so I have basis for comparison... just less miles...

'81 FJ40 in CO, SM420, lockrights, SR, SOA

Sold to jjhancock, enjoy the vehicle man!

Hate to list this here but times are tough and things got to go...

Specs are:

1981 FJ40, 147K miles.
Factory Power Steering
Has SM420 tranny (with old Toy 3sp bellhousing), AA adapter and stock '81 transfercase.
Double-cardan driveshafts front and rear (both from FJ60 front).
Lockright lockers front and rear (also comes with atleast one set of original spider gears).
Spring over (did myself)
Shackle reversal (with spring flipped to increase wheelbase)

Vehicle was rolled onto left side windshield frame is off a '77 and driver's door off a '77, top is 'ok' but nothing good or great at all, but it's there and although doesn't fit perfect (top is tweaked and beatup some) it's better than nothing. Hood is a bit crooked, a few dents, works fine, but would not be considered a show vehicle by any stretch.

Seats are average, driver's maybe below average, bed area has soft spray-in liner.

T/c linkage is not there, I never mod'd the original to fit after putting in the SM420. Original 4sp tranny comes with vehicle and original bellhousing and new Toyota e-brake cable and new Toy thermostat.

Engine runs good, idles high and has some emission stuff disconnected, it passed emissions here in CO with no problems at all though (tail-pipe test here for '81 and older vehicles). I suspect carb might need to be rebuilt at some point.

Currently only has shocks on the front rear shock mounts are kinda half-assed, no great place to put them after the spring-over, and the place they were they wanted to bind.

Here are a ton of pictures:

$5000 or-BETTER-offer :D

Feel free to ask any questions or PM me with anything specific.

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Tucker.

I have a ton of medical bills that need to get paid.. its unfortunate, I love my cruiser.. I just wish the chick that hit me had insurance.. got to love a system where you are the victim and end up paying out the tail and selling your toys to stay afloat.. all she got was a $500 fine for driving without insurance.. blech.

That dude wants $7500 for it? It's been there forever, I never stopped to look at the price, but I would never have guessed it was even that high.

Actually Vince (Pryro-dude or something like that) is coming up from NM to look at it. If he doesn't buy it then I'll take it over by that Checker, several vehicles over there forsale, nice looking 4runner, didn't check on price...

Later,
Mark

yup!! $7500 bones

even the drag link is painted blue  LOL
and for some reason the rear pinion looks a little wacked

I noticed you have the LTB's on your rig, how do you feel about them, how do they do on-road? I've been thinking about buying them, but wondering how they are?

Thanks
