1984 fj60 v8 Idaho

I'm going to grad school and need to come up with some big change quick so here goes nothing.
1984 FJ60.
Carbureted 350 mounted to stock 4 speed tranny/transfer case with a ranger torque splitter. For those who don't know, that pretty much gives you the option of a 27% overdrive in any gear. So. with the recent fuel crap, you can still afford to drive it. I currently use it as my daily driver. I average about 10 in stop and go traffic, and 17 on the highway. Not bad in my opinion. Plus the power is nice. Everything runs well. Engine runs strong, tranny and tcase shift well. Torque splitter is great. It has a centerforce clutch that was installed at the time of the conversion. The V8 and all has about 40k miles on it.

The engine is a 4 bolt main 350. Edelbrock intake, valve covers, carb, block hugger headers.

Interior is in good condition. Nice carpet, no cracks in the dash or console. All seats in good shape with exception to the tear on the drivers seat. Carpet was removed in rear and the cargo area rhino lined. Glass and panels in good shape as well as headliner.

Suspension is OME medium with doetsch tech shocks. Rides smooth! I rebiult the knuckles 3K miles ago and fixed the leaky akle.

Has a pioneer deck and kenwood amp.

No a/c. sorry.

Everything works and I love the cruiser. I just have to scrape up 9k by next month for tuition.

Any other questions and let me know.

I'm asking $7500, but am a bit negotiable. The conversion cost me 6k alone, but I know you never get out of them what you put into them. Anyway- I think it's a nice cruiser for that money.

This is the only pic I could find for the moment. I can get others. Just ask.

Oh yeah- It has somewhat of a bullbar that the po put on. I have the stock front bumper if you would rather have that. The bumper on it now serves as a towing bumper. I have the receiver so that it can be towed behind a truck.

I also have a con-ferr roof rack that I would be willing to throw in if the price is right.

Thanks for looking.

SOA '84 FJ60 just finished, NEVER wheeled

I've got this rig at the shop. It came to me as a stock daily driver in 90% condition. It had a seized engine (blown oil plug in the head). It sat forever and I finally told the owner to pay me to fix it, remove, it or sell it to me for my price. I wound up with it.

A friend had a nice '40 that he had paid me to build for him. He wanted a '60. He traded me the '40 to have me build the '60 for him. It has not been taken off road at all. I am just now finishing some of the add ons that were part of the deal.

He has just been diagnosed with a sudden onset of MS. He wants to sell the rig and get some bills paid off to simplify a suddenly complicated future.

It's an '84 with a SOA conversion. Stock springs, cut and turned front axle, Rancho 9900s (99012s up front and 99010s in the back) w/in cab controller, new driveshafts, 4.88s and ARBS at each end, rear quarters cut for clearance w/wrap around bumper tucked under there (3/4 square tube 3/16 wall section) tire carrier and set up for a gas can carrier on the other side (not finished yet). Rocker panels cut off and replaced with sliders (again 3x4 square tube). Finishing today. Currently wearing 35/14.50 boggers on AL wheels. Brand new, never used Warn 9500 pound winch on the front mounted in a pretty stout (and slightly clunky IMHO) bumper that a buddy built for him.

Brand new motor built here at the shop. .030 over w/262 degree duration cam. Desmogged with factory carb and manifolds. Stong running, smooth and quiet. No leaks no problems. Just about to get it's very first oil change.

It's white w/ brown interior. A couple of parking lot door dings. Other than that no dents and *almost* no rust. It has a couple of dime sized spots in each rear fender lip.

(edit... The rust is a little larger than I remembered... About a 3/4 inch by 3 inch spot on the driver's side and about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch wide about 1/4 of the way around the passenger' side.) Only in the lip. Could easily be cut away. Also a small bit in the tailgate (about 3 inches long by about 1/2 inch wide).

Crack in the dash where the perforations for the factory speaker are. Very small tear in the side of the drivers seat (usual location). To the best of my memory right now there are no other flaws in the interior.

Arrangements could be made for me to address the minor flaws that it has or to do further mods.

He's asking $8000. It's well worth it.

Complication for those who don't know where I'm at... It's in Wasilla Alaska (just outside of Anchorage). It's not all that expensive to ship a rig south on the barge though...

And another approach that might work well for some... I had not planned on first announcing it this way but... The Alaska Cruiser Trek 2006 is in the works. Look to read about it in the Trails very soon and keep an eye for the website to be announced here and on the LCML.
You could buy this rig fly up in July 2006 for the Trek and drive it back with you...

Pictures available for those interested. I'll try and get them on the web as well and lnked to here.

Mark...

I appreciate the input! I would much rather have a 2f that gets less mpg and can't hump a hill or tow.
