What are the travel / trail requirments (starting point (city), distance limit to trails, trail difficulty, etc.)?

JP - If the FJ team and some of you guys are willing to travel, take the FJ back up to Cullowhee. It would be cool to take it in past the "bear scratch" apple orchard (from the entrance at the house off the grid), cross that first stream and then up that first spur to the left where we studied maps / GPS and ended up going the wrong way.

I doubt the FJ will get up that trail to the left without strapping and pulling cable. Could be fun! :D

cullowhee would be nice but it is a bit of a drive from here, to far for a one day event I think........

Looks like Jocasse may be our best bet at the moment, if that doesn't work out I say we then move to the Muster or Horsepasture

well, I just talked to their organizer and they want us to produce 20-25 people........ I just kind of chuckled when he said that

it looks if though, if we can't get together enough people they aren't going to take the time to come out. SO THAT SAID COME ON GUYS!!! YOU GET A CHANCE TO WHEEL THE FJ!!!

because of the forecast for rain Sat. we decide to set up the meeting for Sunday the 8 at 12noon, this is still flexible so if a different time would work better let me know.

Please come out if you can, this is a great oppurtunity for our club :D

Yeah, I dont see getting 20 no matter what at this late of notice. (Not you JP, them) I am at a wedding fri-sat night and then church until a little afgter 12 sunday. THen back at church, so no go for Sunday either. Wish I could make it.

well crap since you were one of the few going, I will talk to the guy and see if he can do it Sat. instead........... whats a little rain :D

Just so you guys know, you don't have to even bring your cruiser and you don't have to be a member of the club to come..........

all you have to be is 21 and you can drive the FJ on the trails!! So come on out and bring you friends and family, Toyota just wants lots of people there, they want to sell cars :D

JP,

Good work!! (don't forget to study for finals dude!) A couple of quick questions from a sort of new guy:

1. Where? Jocasse is a big place.

2. Is it legal? The Jocasse Gorges park website says there is alot of illegal trail use, and there is a DNR number to call. . . . If I violate the law, I pretty much lose my job.

3. What are the trails like? Is this harder, easier than Cullowee . . . which was Excellent!

4. Can I win another FJCruiser hat? I only have two . . .

Would love to go but previous plans can't be broken. You could go to my family's place near Ceasar's Head State Park. It has a little mud, a few rocks and you need 4WD. One creek crossing about 20 feet wide 2 ft deep. This route is about 3-4 miles long one way and will assure paint damage due to overhanging Mountain Laurel. Let me know if interested.

david the location is hard to pin point but is near the devils state park on Jocassee........

as far as the legality, I had contacted David H. to discuss since he is much more knowledgeable about the law than myself... as long as there are no gates and no posted no tresspassing signs we should be good to go, which there where none of last time I was there, the land its self is listed as gameland and is open to hunting and so forth, so I assume we are good to go unless you know otherwise. The last thing I want to do is get our club introuble as well as toyota. I am going up there tonight to inspect the road again to make sure we will not be trespassing. I spoke with several people who have wheeled there in the past with no problems. What we will actually be wheeling is the area around the quary that was used to build the damn at Jocassee.

as for the trails the very start of the trail is very rutted and difficult by Cullowhee Standard, I don't think it would be a good idea to bring your stock 100, but as I stated above, the point isn't really to wheel your own cruiser rather the FJ :D. So come down and you can check the trail conditions for youself and if it is more than you want to get into just park the 100 and jump in the FJ or if you are really brave ride shootgun with me :D

if you have any questions give me a call 706 394 7045

JP

There goes JP with his bigotry against the 100 series again... :D

You guys have fun and take LOTS of pics!!

I want to see that 8274 dragging the FJ all over the place JP!!

well, Jocasse is a no go, richard and I discovered a "no vehicles sign about" 100' into the trail on an obscure tree, that in the summer time wouldn't be visble due to folliage cover........ it is a major let down, but atleast we have a back up plan.

Thanks to Alan we still have place to ride :D, more details after I talk to Alan tomorrow :D
