I've been on a quest to find old school (as it turns out) yellow round fogs for my 60 and I got to thinking about the options for those of you with FJ62s... It seems one could convert the outer headlights from single low beam to hi/low bulbs and rewire accordingly. Then convert the inner lights to yellow fogs... it would increase functionality while maintaining a factory format... and it might look cool too...

Just curious...

(Best I can do until I can get to my Photoshop computer...)

I was able to find yellow covers for my hella ff500 so I am sure you could fins something that is 7" to cover. Other option is to find Japanese spec lenses.

Ideally one would want to find a housing that fit there that had a fog beam lens. Then making it yellow with either the stick on "Shieldz" or the yellow Duplicolor spray and/or a yellow bulb... I suppose a stand alone rectangular fog light could be made to fit...

Cibie *used* to make round yellow fogs and I just spent a fortune on new lights and wiring harness pre-fabbed from Daniel Stern [the guy is an encyclopedia on lighting] but I think he found some for me. I'll post pics when I'm done installing--can't wait to be able to safely drive my rig at night without candles for the lighting...

I'll be interested to hear/see if you can convert the inners [high beam] to fogs--I'm guessing with rewiring you should be able to but not sure about finding the right bulbs.

Wouldn't they be too high off the ground then? I thought you want fog lights down low with a sharp cut off to avoid glare back in your eyes.

Yes... Lower is better... But yellow lights, even up at regular height, would be better than the existing white low beams. Im not saying this would be the best fog light solution, just that it would be an interesting and functional mod.

For the most part, any current to 20 years or so ago yellow/amber is a coating on the lens or the bulb is yellow. The old Cibie glass lens were yellow glass, the stuff they used to make them is banned or something now. So if you want very good yellow/amber you need to look at older Cibie, Marchall and a few others.

I run Yellow Cibie Oscar Plus Fog or drivers on most my cruisers, I love them, but with me Cibie is kinda like the Ray Ban Ambermatic of the day....they don't make em like they use to and I like that stuff.

Think a set of rectangular headlights(just inner) but in an amber driving beam woukd be the way to go, think I have seen them, Canada allowed amber drivers not just fogs
