OEM grey is still available

Great job on that! Looks totally original. I have an hj61 24v. i think the lock switch would work from a switch doctor 12v one since the lock switch is simply a ground interrupter. Any thoughts on that? Thanks guys

That's good to know! At the time I needed it, switchdoctor only had brown and I couldn't wait. ...wanted functioning windows with summer heat approaching.

Are you happy with the switch doctor quality?

My passenger window button on the master switch broke. Is it possible to change just that out? the used oem switches are still pricey so probably not worth it.

If I bought the oem gray switch could I switch my brown housing onto it? Hard to tell from the pics.

Yes. It seems like good quality. It doesn't get aggressive use on my part since the vehicle is not a DD, but so far, so good.

I had a similar problem and the same thought as you, to buy the swithdoctor switch and move my existing grey plate onto it. I studied the SD unit and poked/pried around on it eventually concluding it's not possible without breaking stuff apart in a bad way. I called SD just to make sure there wasn't something obvious I was missing to take the plate off. They confirmed that the master switch panel for 62 is unitized with the switches and not designed to be disassembled.

Yes,
Take the door panel off. Remove the screw that hold the grey housing for the door handle and slide it over the handle. Remove 2 crews that hold the arm rest in place and the GENTLY start popping the the door panel off. It helps if you have an upholstery tool for this but you can you your fingers and a large flat head screw driver. You will then lift the door panel up and over the door lock plunger. Once you do that, rich behind and unplug the electrical connections. At that point, removing the master switch will be easy. I would not try to do it without removing the panel, you will destroy it.
This was incredibly helpful.

can report good results so far with the switch doctor switch so far. It even locks/unlocks the rear passenger door lock which was stuck

I also bought the switchdoctor one in brown and then SEM painted it, and then used Testor silver hobby paint to get the raised letters in silver. Not perfect on the lettering but a fairly fun / easy project and nice to have new fully functioning switch panel. Bottom one is the new panel obviously - a slight bit of overspray got past the tape job on one of the switches making it look a little usedView attachment 3242988
This looks great. So you used SEM coat. Did you prep with the SEM adhesive spray? U just taped the switches rather than removing them. It's a pain to take it all apart but I did do that once to clean the contacts in the switch. I have my brown switch coming now and need to do the same.

IIRC, I did not use anything other than the SEM paint. It has held just fine. I think I used 2-3 light coats of the SEM. It didn't look like there was a way to remove the switches from what I recall, thus I taped them. Maybe I just didn't study it hard enough to figure it out, but I also didn't want to break the switches on a brand new panel.

You can remove them, but trying to get all of the tiny springs and white plastic shafts to be in the correct spot as you reassemble it....
Right. It’s a PIA.

One additional question, do you happen to know the exact SEM paint color code?

figured it out. it's simple once you see it in person. don't mind the excess solder......some is good, more is better, right?
and as you can see, those windows are pulling some serious current and sooting up everything. The relay 'fix' is on my to do list.
but my windows are working now.
