it's been a good week now for the 62. I finally got my headlight issues sorted and yesterday I got my 3 degree caster shims on my front springs. it's amazing how much of a difference even 3 degrees of caster makes. my wander is pretty much gone. also fouund a ome spring bushing sleeve was loose sliding around causing a spring clunk. I tack welded it into the eye right at the very end corner of the leaf in the eye so hopefully it won't change the leaf strength at all. I don't see how it could. anyway it's running well right now with no major outstanding issues....

now I've gone and jinxed myself for saying that right!!

I've posted this in trailer tech too but thought I'd put it out to as many members to read this as I can get. I'm looking for a mud member who would do me a favour. I want to buy three McMaster-Carr toggle clamps (two for my trailer and one for my bumper) but they won't ship them to canada for personal use. I can't find similar clamps here so am asking someone in the states to buy them for me and then ship them here after the purchase has been made. if you can get a quote then I'll send a paypal or email transfer to you before the order gets placed so you know you won't be out any money. I can the send a second payment to cover the cost of re shipping then to me or whatever works best. they won't even allow me to send them to a US address knowing they will end up here. I really like the clamps they offer so am willing to pay a little extra to get the right ones for my build. if there are any takers please pm me and I can get you the details. thanks mud members!

I'm in Blaine, WA quite often (like every three or four days). I'm doing the same thing for a buddy on Vancouver Island, I have an address that you can ship stuff to, then I just drive across and bring them home. CBSA has no issue as long as I'm under $200 of declared value. Border waits aren't an issue, I'm a NEXUS holder. Send me a PM, I could buy them myself and ship them to Blaine, then forward them on

Not sure how M-C would know they would end up here, VISA billing I suppose, or verified PayPal. I've not dealt with M-C, but I always assumed I'd have no trouble shipping to a US address

thanks again grinder for your help!! mid members are awesome!! got the clamps and hopefully will get my lid on my trailer soon. I can't believe that the clamps from McMaster-Carr are deste co clamps! good name but I got some here in canada. the ones that McMaster Carr sold weren't available through acklands. what's that about? anyway I got the ones I need and for not much more that I paid for the two I could get here.

ahh I NEED A HEADLIGHT BUZZER. I've left my lights on two days in a row. thankfully I haven't killed my battery yet but man do I do that a lot. I'm kind of dumb that way

had supper out side a mall with a Source ( previously radio shack here in canada). ran in and got this.

started putting my trailer wiring into the bumper. also wanted to swap out the cam latch for a de steco latch but it doesn't fit between the swing out arms like I hoped. I may have to put it upside down instead. not a perfect solution but easier to open and close this way. I'll post up some pictures tomorrow of the latches. just letting the paint dry tonight over the bare metal from drilling. will finish things up tomorrow.

here is what I hoped to do with the latch but it's too wide to fit between the swing outs.

here are the other two options for positioning. the one that the latch is upside down and the hook is on the bumper seems to be the most solid but also runs the risk of dragging on the ground should I ever get that steep. it's unlikely as I don't wheel this rig that hard but not impossible. any thoughts?

well I went with it like this. the only problem is that it there's enough play in the arms that the latch doesn't lock. it's going to come loose as I drive. I think I'll have to get one with a locking mechanism if I can. hopefully it'll be the same bolt pattern. it looks good though.

after looking on line for a different clamp they really dont exist so I'm making a bracket to pull 90 degrees to the clamp action. this is what it was designed for so pulling at 45 degrees doesn't let the cam action work. this should work though. I took the hook plate and modified it a little. not perfect but not too bad either. hopefully it'll work

it'll sit with the long end against the bumper and the latch arm will fall into the slot on top preventing it from falling off the bottom should things loosen but allowing it to pull straight 90 degrees to the cam. may be confusing but I'll get a picture once I get it mounted

while waiting for paint to dry I finally got my buzzer installed. really is simple. my wife and kids are at her sisters for the weekend so I've got time to finally tinker on the little things.

double locking toggle would be nice. what did you use and do you have any pictures. it was a cam lock that needed to be disassembled every time I wanted to open it which was a real pain. this clamp didn't fit the way I wanted to I am making it work but not real happy with it. may change it if I find a better option.
