Shock hoop placement on drivers side

Just a minor update- I've put about 3k miles on my rig since the spring over and its been great. I appreciate all the support and information I've received here on 'mud. I could have never done any of this without it. I'm here in Utah and have done most of the local trails including constrictor and rattlesnake. And more recently made a trip to Moab and did poison spider. Enjoy:D

Looks awesome. Seeing the 60 in that red dirt brings back memories :D

Thanks everyone for the compliments. It has been well worth the work and a lot of fun!

Sweet cruiser! I love that color on cruisers. What are the details on the paint?

Thanks. The paint is monstaliner and I was able to do the whole thing for a couple hundred bucks. So far it has held up very well. Here's some more details on that-

Details in the front bumper too. Looks awesome and great truck!!

Thanks. Bumper is homemade with a winch mount. I just don't have a winch yet  If I remember right all the outside is made of ten gauge steel (whatever it is, its slightly thicker than the stock bumper) then has two 3/4 inch plates that slide into the frame rails a couple of inches and stick out the front for d-rings (I think they need to be gusseted though) and then the winch plate is 3/8 inch and welded directly to the two 3/4 plates. All was cut on a CNC plasma table. I had a bunch of pictures of the build but dropped my phone in a lake fishing :bang: and haven't been able to recover them. But there are a few pictures here-

How's the ride on the freeway with the 4:11s? I want to know if I should keep the 4:11 in my 62, or go 4:88 when I start my SOA. Thanks!
EDIT: i see on the link that you swapped to 4:88. was it worth it? im doing a budget build, but want it done right.

Honestly the ride on the highway with 4.88's is not that great. I drove to moab last month and I'll just say that 3 hours at 3000's rpm's can't be good for it. But then again I don't have an overdrive and you do so it wouldn't be a big deal. Running 4.88's and 35 inch tires will be just a tad lower than stock. If you put 35's under your rig and leave the 4.11's in you'll probably have a hard time maintaining speed up hill. Marlin's vehicle speed calculator is a great resource in figuring out what to expect with the gears you choose.

Here are the ratios for your transmission:

1st- 2.95:1
2nd- 1.53:1
3rd- 1:1
4th- 0.717:1

Tyman-Your FJ62 will struggle with big tires and no gearing. That automatic has a very narrow range where it is happy. Remember the stock tires are 28 inches. Remember also that the transmission can only lock the TC in 4th, and you'll rarely be in 4th with the 35's. When running uphill in 3rd or 2nd, the transmission will generate tons of heat that will shorten it's life considerably.

If you are going SOA, and running 35's, you will want 4.88 gears. Unfortunately it's expensive, but you need to do it, or forget the 35s.

On a side note, i have an soa fj62 3fe h55f combo with stock 4:11 and 35's. The five speed puts so much more oomph into the powerband. I can easily cruise at 75 all day doing about 2700 rpm. Personally I think its the way to go
Congrats on the build
