FJ60 SOA...It's about time

Also I just purchased some wheels and tires too. Though the tires are only 33's so they'll be replaced soon after I finish the SOA. Its mostly the rims that I wanted which are Eagle 058's. I know before that I mentioned I'd be doing black steelies but I changed my mind.

I'm Back!

So sorry to leave you all hangin. I never created a picasa web album but I have the ability to post more pics now. For the last month or two I've been working away at and am now nearly finished. Here are some pics of the progress...

Just in case anyone notices, in the third picture the steering arms are indeed on the wrong sides. They have since been switched.

More pics

I managed to weld one of the rear shock mounts to close to the spring perch. Oh the anger and sorrow of doing stupid things. Another picture is of one of the hubs all cleaned up. And the third was taken at that halfway mark. :D

Here's how it now sits...

Here's how it now sits... The 33's look a little funny but they'll be gone soon. 35's to come. Now I just need to put the steering together, flex it out to measure for shocks, purchase some longer brake lines and get a few more things buttoned up.

Concur, looks really good. Other than good old elbow grease, any tips on how you got your hubs to look so sweet?

Aside from the elbow grease(95% of the job), I took them apart and painted the cap black.

can you post up a picture of the shock hoops? Can't decide on the f-250 shock mounts or hoops like the ones you have. great job:cheers:

Been a long time coming

Hey all, sorry its been so long. I finished the SOA a couple months ago. The hard part was getting all the rest of the stuff buttoned up, especially the brakes. I made the mistake of cutting all the stock brake mounts off and I think the got thrown away. But I made new ones on the plasma cam and they worked perfectly. I ended up using bilstein 5125's, no sway bars, stock springs with OME aal, and stock length shackles. I couldn't be happier with the way it drives. I set the caster to about six and a half degrees which will give me a little lee way if I decide to throw in shackles that are a little longer. I'm thinking about anti inversions in the front because the rear sits a little higher than the front. Here's some pictures of my brake brackets and some flexing :D Right now it sits on worn down 33's and looks a little funny. They're way too small. 35's to come soon. I also need to regear. Probably to 4.56's.

I just ordered the parts individually, here is the basic list of things you need give or take a few items:

-Axle cut and turn- Cruiser Outfitters
-Spring pins, spring bushings, knuckle rebuild kit, OME AAL's, diff gaskets- Cruiser Outfitters
-Shock hoops, spring perches, rear shock mounts, OME Stableizer- Proffitts(though they are no longer in business)
-Spring plates and front shock mounts-Ruffstuff
-High Steer kit- Trail gear
-Bilstein 5125's- Marlin Crawlers

Here are the front shock mounts I used: http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/SBRKT-3.html And I'll attach a picture of it mounted to the axle. I've learned a lot from this process and if you have any other questions hit me up and I'd be happy to answer them
