Just a heads up. My 87 does not have a threaded nut in the pillar. I assumed it would being a late model. So check with a needle before ordering.

I ended up ordering the threaded plate from Seat Belt Planet. To get the plate into position I fished a fine gage wire down through the hole and into the fender well area. A piece of advice I took for the boards was to put some bonding epoxy on the plate and used a nut to act as a stopper so I could pull the wire tight until it bonded to the pilar. This worked super well and the whole process took about 30 min end to end. Way easier than I anticipated.

Do you have a part or product number for the plates?

Thank you for that!
The fine guage wire also seemed to work substantially better than string or fishing line, it allowed me to be slightly more intentful with he direction I wanted it to go in the fender well. Took about 15-20 min for the epoxy to set to a point where I could thread it. I tried a little to early and had to fish the plate back out and start over. Best of luck!

Hey Hojack, looking to do the same rear belt install that you did and have a couple questions after reading through this great post. It looks like your retractor fits between the seatback and pillar perfectly and doesn't interfere when folding down? I ordered a pair from SBP and seems that they either need to go in front of the seatback (closer to door opening) or back and have the belt fed up to the top anchor on the backside of the seat (think i saw pics of someone else doing that). I just don't want to mess with cutting sheetmetal/trimwork to have them flush, so just trying to figure out the best way to mount externally. You posted a bunch of great pics that will help, so thanks for that! You have a pic from the top of the seat looking down on the retractor that shows the positioning vs the seatback? Also curious how much cutting of the panel you actually had to do. Thanks!

I did mine like Hojack and they rub/catch on the seat in both directions, it's kind of a pain in the ass. If I had it to do again I would put the seat back in the up position and bolt them just behind.

I'm ready to this myself and was looking to see the best placement. Thank you.

I’ve got no issues where I placed mine except my dog Reload has a chew toy if I’m not paying attention😆
I'd love to see a profile pic of yours taken from the front looking back of the bracket and bolt, if you have a sec to upload one. I'm not against drilling a couple more holes for a better less clunky fit. Mine looks about like yours (thank you for the detailed pics also! Good looking out.) but as I said it rubs in both directions of the seat up and down.

FYI
Due to regulations I cannot install retractables in my HJ60 tub (European type without grooves for retractors behind the seat). So I purchased the non-retractable 3-point rear non-retractable by cruiserdenmark posted Jun 15, 2018 at 9:35 PM[/GALLERY]seatbelts from seatbeltplanet. Worked out fine, bolted right on. The bolt in the left c-pillar took some force to get in, but the right did not. Took me an hour or two to do it all. The bolts in the bottom were quite hard to get out, rusted a bit on the back (sticking out underneath the body). I was very careful not to force any bolts in a wrong thread. Very satisfied with seatbeltplanet, they gave good advice and sent the belts very fast. A little more safe now.
(Working on the seat covers at the moment so grey back and brown bottom seat :))

Thanks @cruiserdenmark I'm thinking about going with the non-retractable as well. To confirm, you did not have to put that extra threaded plate behind the c pillar? You bolted in direction to an existing threaded hole? Thanks

I've fished the nuts up into the C pillars and I am ready to install the belts. It looks like the shoulder anchor on one of these is backwards though. Shouldn't they both be like the one on the right?

Are y’all able to get your retractors to lock after you pull the entire belt out so you can cinch down a car seat?
