I'm trying to figure out the date my FJ55 was built. Obviously it's a '77 but what month.

All the internet decoders say I don't have enough numbers but it's all I have on the title.

According to SOR, yours was built in late July/early August of 1977.

My VIN is missing that leading 0, but it is the last 5/6 which determine the month/year. Mine was built in Jan 74.

It was manufactured in July 1977.

7-77 beginning frame number, 76441
7-77 ending frame number, 77572

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if your title has the leading zero, it is wrong, and shouldn't be there. My frame for example.

I've seen others with similar issues especially with vehicles coming out of CA (which mine did). Seems CA DMV had a problem with dashes in the titles.

We have 3 FJ55s and all three do not exibit a leading 0. This is my 35 year old production frame reference microfiche. It has them.

According to that microfiche my 76384 VIN is a 1977. But I bought it with a 1975 title - which I'm happy with because I live in CA. I'm sticking with 1975.

As I recall, when I registered my 12/'74 Pig in Ca, back in '85 or so, they had to add the 0 to my VIN to satisfy their computers need for enough digits
