Here is the color and spec chart for the US-Spec Land Cruiser from 1968-1979. If you see an error please post it here and I will correct the page and graphic ASAP. You can upload a photo of your car to the site by clicking on the above graphic, then clicking on the appropriate camera icon next to your color.

I will make updates on the chart within a day of any errors or additions posted. To confirm or add your color to the chart just post a photo or description of your car along with the model year (or production date) and the color code. The three-character color code can be found on the production information on a metal plate attached to the firewall near the back of the engine compartment.

What year did they start putting the color code on the metal plate?

Hmmm... I seem to have a small discrepancy in my info. My charts have the FJ55 ending in 1979 and the FJ60 starting in 1981. Is that an error or was there no 1980 Land Cruiser?

the parts catalog lists parts for the 55 until 80/07 , who knows how many where built in the 80's

Huh?

I would assume TJ by the sheet they posted that 1968 shows it. However, when looking for yours I didn't see one.

Usually there is a color/trim code on those badges - but what we need to find out is WHEN and WHERE this data was included for the FJ55....

...anyone?

you're still missing solid colors in '77 and around that time...(I can't remember what year Lance's RockLobster was...)

Its been a couple of years since this thread was resurrected, but I'm doing it again. Looking for anyone that has any 55-series brochures to speak up. I'd like to get them scanned and uploaded to our public archive.

Still looking for 55 owners to shout out their year and color codes, too. I want to get this chart filled out!

I just purchased a 74 FJ55, and when going through the glove box, found the original owner's manual, and, the emissions manual for all 1974 Toyota vehicles.

I will scan them.

BTW, mine is an early 74, and is the blue/white (278).

Awesome, I'll PM you my email address to send that stuff over and I'll include them in the online gallery.

Also, I adjusted the chart to reflect the 278 color in 1974.

Was there an actual code stamped anywhere on the Pig or the literature? Or are you just going by color?

I have a Jan '74 Pig and the VIN plate under the hood is in pretty bad shape, so I cannot tell if it had a color code on it...

I have a March 1970 pig, and it originally was red/white two tone. However, I can't tell if it was the muleta red or the freeborn red, as it's buried under a PO paint job of s*** brown. The more I think of it, the more I think it is freeborn red. Maybe the two colors overlapped?

Pablo, mine is also a Jan 74 manufacture date. Both plates, the one under the hood, and the one on the door frame, are in good shape, and neither one has the paint code listed.
