I have a 1977 FJ55 that is monotone (solid color) 854 sky blue built Sept 1976. The engine bay is all blue the floorboards are all blue and I got it from the original owners who said that was how they got it from the dealer. The window sticker also shows the color as blue. The color tag shows the truck as 854 exterior color and the trim as EA12. I have also found two other 1977's on ebay that were solid color also, one same color as mine and the other was dark green. I have posted photos on the FJ55 registry part of this forum showing the interior and window sticker, check bottom of page 5 and top of page 6

Hmmm... I show that the two-tone red/white code starting in 1976 and running through 1979 was 275, so I wonder if you have the Freeborn Red/Cygnus White combo that ran from 1971 through 1975. I don't have a paint code on that one. I think there was some overlap in the paint codes, plus my data might not be accurate.

I'm going to call the older two-tone 265 and hope that is correct!

Hello all - a newbie here with a pig project. 1978 FJ55 (Dec 1977). I am looking to color match red and white and can't tell if it is 275 or 265. Current condition is an oxidized faded flat red and dirty white. Reading through the post (what a great resource!) reference charts listed "FREEBORN Red (309) and white" combo as 265. Where as "Red and white" combo is 275. I called the local dealer and mystified them those codes. ANY advice on which red and white I might have and the specific codes to both the red and the white would be much appreciated!

Are you 100% sure on that? I have found evidence that before 1970 the red was T1454 Mulete Red. Have I made a mistake?
I've seen a '69 (first year we got in the states) that was definitely freeborn, I've never seen the other red on a pig. Do you have any pics or reference literature showing it? I also noticed you are missing pollock orange/cygnus which was available in '73, there is a magazine advert showing one parked behind a nebula 40 with a boat that us fairly well circulated. Several others are documented in the 55 section -

That and one for the same year FJ 40 are the only ones like it I have or have ever seen. It came out of a Toyota parts book, but none of others have one like it. It may be 1968/1969, I scanned it years ago, so not sure I can easily find it again in the books..

Fashion Green! Cool! Do you have the same chart for '74?
Thanks!

Got it, thank you!

Here is my completed build. I did not like the factory FJ55 red and white so I used 2010 Tundra Radiant red 3L5 and Super white 040. Factory colors so I can go anywhere for touch up paint. Works for me. Newer paint options are there and still keeping Toyota genuine.

Nice! Why don't we ever see you in the 55 forum?

WOW MakoMike!! Does your user name have anything to do with your access to a P-R-O paint shop? ;) ..Did you do all your own body work and paint? I think to do it "right" it would take more time and resources than I have - and I think if it's going to be done it's worth doing right.

One of the few things I have going for me is the amount of metal I have remaining on my 55. BUT.. there are 2 "small" areas of cancer unfortunately, one is in the passenger a-pillar and the other is in rear hatch..

Any leads on a conscientious bodywork guy in the Portland, Oregon area??
