Sweet. What's that mounted on the hood? A spot light? I'd leave it as-is and drive it.
It has a chevy 305 thats getting swapped out for a 2F. I replaced all the suspension at this point. And yes its an okd spot light on the hood. Pretty cool looking in my opinion.

You should stop by the ONSC Clubhouse and introduce yourself! LOTS of Cruiser enthusiasts in the Carolinas and ONSC is one of the most active clubs in the nation. Besides that, free advertising for your shop :) NC- Olde North State Cruisers

Looking forward to pics of the project!

No problem. I tried to load some photos however the files are too large so I need to resize them. I will attempt to show a beginning to end and background story.

Ladies and Gentiles,

I'm currently working on a web based FJ45 registry that was started by rick_d. Orangfj45 took over where rick_d left off and I offered to help orangefj45 soon after that. I'm currently in need of your vehicle statistics so that I can fill in my list and start to debug the database. Any help from you guys would be great. If you do not want to share your info in the public forum please feel free to PM or e-mail it to me bull@toymoco.com. Please note we will not use your info for any other purpose.

The registry will allow users to see exactly how many known 45s are out there and their general location. Other features of the site will help educate owners on which year they own exactly, what options offered etc. Once the registry is live online we will post a link to this group for testing.

Hi Graham,
Great to see a fellow fj45 owner with a 70's 45! I just started restoration in the Netherlands on a 73' fj45 with frame number fj4565498, engine F431977. Unfortunately it had no paperwork, so I'll have to prove to Dutch MoT that theze frames were produced at that time... would you be willing to send me a picture of your registration?

Just new on the forum...will properly introduce soon!

Hi, I just wondered if there was someone kind enough and knowledgeable enough to help me date my Australian FJ45 pickup? (Apologies if this is in the wrong section.)

I was told it was a 1969 model with the VIN FJ45-40045. In order to register it, I have asked Toyota for the date of production and they have come back with October 1965, which has confused me as it doesn't look like pictures of other 65's i.e no vent under the windshield, the clips to open the windshield are round black plastic, not the metal clips.

Looking at the chart on CCOT's website, Land Cruisers Sold Per Year & Vin Numbers by Production Dates the vin does match October 1965 but I thought that chart was for FJ40's not 45's. Unfortunately the vehicle is in a boat en route so I have no way of checking until it arrives next month.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Al

The FJ45 frame number chart on Specter's website would suggest your frame number is a 1969.

Try sor.com to see it.

BTW, Toyota has long ago forgotten its heritage, and whoever you spoke with has no idea about your truck.

Thanks Bear. I have had some success in the past but this time they seem to be way off. For a moment I was quite excited that it was a 65 but I will have to query it with them. Apparently the information came from Japan so maybe you are right. I think I would trust this website more as the knowledge here always amazes me.
