FJ40 Tube Routing / Hole

I’m in the process of reassembling my 5/1977 FJ40 and have a question about the shown tube (circle “B”) and hole(circle “A”).

Does the tube go into the hole? If not, what goes in the hole and where does the tube go? Maybe fuel separator?

Prior to disassembly the tube was in the hole to no where. Seems strange. Thought it might have been part of the desmog cover up.

Yes, that is the canister overflow and it terminates inside the body mount.

I think it just dead ends in that hole. I'm pretty sure that is where the tube from my 76 went. I think it is the hose coming off the charcoal canister.

Yes, it dumps excess vapor or fuel inside the box tube. It's one last chance to puddle before actually puking liquid gas out on the ground due to a grossly overfilled gas tank on a hot day.

This is how I did mine. As others said comes from cannister and ends somewhere in the body.
