So all things being considered, which transmission is a good candidate to swap into an all original 72 fj40? Or even what are your thoughts on any other combinations? I'm not looking to completely change everything out as I have a freshly rebuilt 2f, but any insight is definitely appreciated. Thanks in advance for the responses!

Having recently swapped from the 3 speed to a H42 four speed, I fully agree H42.
Yep agree. I've got an H42 to for you. Also have the crossmember and trans mount available.
