I have a fj40 2F engine that is in the vehicle and has rust and debris that is the consistency of coffee grounds in the coolant passages. I am using a filter and have used evaporust.I have run the engine and cleaned the filter at least 50 times and I’m still collecting ”coffee grounds” Ive removed the thermostat and and used a hose to flush out the evaporust and still have debris. Any ideas or do I just continue to run it for a few minutes and keeping changing the filter?

Typically the rust has settled in the bottom of the blocks cooling passages. The only way to get most of it out is to pull the core/freeze plugs and flush each hole using a probe to break it up. You can pull the block drains and probe the hole while running water thru the blk.

I've used some radical methods on mine which came to me in horrible condition. Lots of threads on this topic.
"HERE'S" a good thread to start with and has some links whithin.
