FJ40 Headlight Bezel- is it upside down?

hello! I recently bought an FJ40. I have always believed that the headlight bezel should be 'thick side up'. When I bought it, the thick side of the bezel was down. So I flipped it. Here is a picture of it now. I thought I fixed it, but now the Toyota emblem doesn't look centered. Is the front bezel correct now? Should the Toyota emblem be centered? Thanks in advance!

That looks correct. The center Toyota emblem can only mount in 1 place on the grill. Seems you are over thinking the whole deal

You need the plastic toyota... the metal one on the mesh ment for the plastic one will bring it a tad higher then usual

I need a plastic Toyota emblem? So am I using the wrong emblem for my truck?

Unless the roll bar has been removed this is a 73 which still had the metal emblem. Something doesn't seem right. Maybe a later bezel or expanded metal grill?

The grill sticks up farther than the body of my truck (about an inch or two). Is it not supposed to? Here is a picture.

That is correct it protects the upper part of the radiator should projectiles make it through the opening created by the hood.

Flip your bib down and take a look at the mesh. Mine had holes that lined up with studs on each tab. I broke off 3 of 4 studs and ended up drilling them out and putting weld nuts in there so be careful.

I don't think so the 73 and earlier used the metal emblem I'm pretty certain.

My 74 has the plastic emblem and is slightly off center.

Various snips of 73's found on google. Looks like the mounting bar should center on the head lights and the way the emblem is designed will cause it to be off center towards the top.

Oh... wrong bib then? The seller said EVERYTHING was original, I think the body was re-painted and the bib wasn't.

I'm guessing it's the original bib, it's the rest of the truck that's been replaced.
