Nope. The VIN is on the title, but not the frame number.

The frame #, vin# , and the # on the title should all be the same. If not, it could be problematic. If your B pillar tag and title # are the same but don't match the frame #, then someone swapped the B pillar tag from another FJ40. There are some States that will only look at the title and the B #, other States will only use the frame and title #. Most used bare frames are sold with the title and maybe the B pillar tag.

Good to know. I wish there was a way to put in your VIN and get your vehicle's history. When I worked at a Dodge / Jeep dealership we could do that for any Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth or Jeep. I wish Toyota had that ability.

See the attached pics. The .093" thickness comes in right at 3/32" or just under 12 guage in sheet metal. It measures at 1 5/8" long and 3/4" wide.

Thank you so much! That's very helpful if I end up having to make something.

You wouldn't by any chance be interested in selling me that one would you? I could get a flat piece of metal and drill a hole, but it wouldn't be push down in recessed the way that factory part is.

For sale???

Those latest pics are after I removed the part from my truck in the earlier post. Sorry, it's the only one I have and I'll be needing it someday. Good luck.
BTW, that hole in the middle for the lock appears to be punched like that. It looks doable, again, if you can't find one.

Looks like you could adapt a weldnut. You'd have to look at the dimensions available.

McMaster Carr, search weldnuts. There's a bunch of different sizes and styles. They show specs and dimensional sketches.

How big is the middle hole that the latch pin fits into?

Thank you!

I have got a 1971 FJ40 with a build date of Dec '70.

The rear short swing doors, what some people call the barn doors, on the right side (passenger side) door on the inside there is a latch you have to pull up on to open the door. When you are not pulling up on it, the pin fits down into a small metal piece held in place on the bed with either 2 screws or 2 bolts. I am needing that piece.

So you can see exactly what I'm talking about, if you click on this link, it is number 38 highlighted with blue (and they don't have it): Rear Swing Out Door - 1958-1974 40 Series (Page 133) - Specter Off-Road - https://www.sor.com/cat/133
I may have one if you're still interested.
