Removed the push pull style steering in prep for the the 60/70 series steering box I have a LHD and RHD version. LHD mounts to the outside of the frame. RHD mounts to the inside I'm going to through the engine and rad in before i settle on what i want to check for clearance.

And my straightened, sand blasted rear cab mounts primed in weld through primer awaiting warmer weather so i can go nuts on the body work.

Spring....where for art thou......

Only moved some stuff around this weekend. Brought the frame back in so I can start working on my trac-bars.

Well I wasn't happy with how my spring perches turned out. I had to fill in to much with weld so I stopped by Altitude Adjustments and picked up some new perches for cheap and redid them.

I welded them in using the Arc welder since the mig isn't really big enough to get good penetration.

Also built my trac-bar mounts on the rear axle. I'm using chevy spring poly bushing in a chunk of DOM. I'm going to finish the rest of the bar when I have the weight on the springs and it sitting at ride height.

I curved the lower mount brace plate so that its not a sharp angle that is going to get caught on obstacles and rip off. Also should provide some protection for the lower bushing. I then welded everything up using the mig since there is enough surface area and weld I shouldn't have a problem.

Next will be changing the perches on the front axle and trussing the rear. I am going to hold off on the front trac-bar and front axle trussing till I have the engine back in the frame for clearance purposes.

Here is the pic of it welded all together. It should hold together its made of 1/4"

Nice lookin' welds ya got there! :)

Thanks, that is the reason why I got the new perches. I couldn't put the heat to the ones I cut off and rewelded on because it kept blowing threw.

Well not much progress because I have been building a different truck that I have sold and have to get it finished before I can touch the cruisers again. But I did get some parts.

New front fenders and some rocker panels so that I can get all the body work done later this summer. Rocker panels are from 4wheel Auto and the fenders are Toyota ones.

More pictures of the new fenders. I can't wait to get the body back on the frame where it should be.

Mounted my one fender in place and realized that 35's are probably going to be too small. So I think I'm going to step up to a 38x15.5R15 Nitto Mud grappler like pictured below on steel rims.

great build!! that diesel is going to be great for that truck...

i just realized that 80 series that you won from sgi in North battleford was the same truck that my buddy and i were bidding on.. we drove up from Saskatoon and went to pick it up but the knock in the engine and what looked like a bent front axle housing scared us away... we actually won the bid but turned it down so you must have been the next one in line.. funny stuff..
im glad it went to a good home though.. i look forward to seeing more progress!!

Yup that's the one. The engine needs a rebuild and haven't noticed any issues with the axle looks to still be true since its going under my 40. If the engine wasn't knocking I know for sure I would have never gotten the truck.

I have to SAS my Tacoma first since its costing me so much money in wheel bearings but after this spring full dedication back at this project.
