So decided to investigate my knock in the engine. Originally noted a knock in either cylinder 3 or 4. Well pulled the pan and found a bunch of chunks. Noticed damage on the bottom of piston 4 because it was hitting the crank counter balance weights. Removed the connecting rod cap and found that the bearing was completely gone. It has not been run like this for long so the crank should be good for a polish but we will have to see. Pictures to come when I pull the head off.

Well it has happened. It has changed again for the last time. I installed 60 axles front and rear with a full float rear. I gained some width and since I had to move spring perches anyways I did an SOA. However the truck is now going to be huge so I am taking the lift shackles out to try and get this thing lower to the ground. Like all projects I guess it has gone from a moderate build to something extreme and completely custom. What I like though is that I have kept everything Toyota. There is not one part of it that isn't Toyota which is how it should be. Anyways here are some pictures of the in progress SOA.

With the 60 Series front axle I had to hug the center section as much as possible to get the axle close to center. Its a little off but there is nothing I can do about that. Its not a huge amount less than an inch and will be hard to notice anyways. The gain in width for stability will be worth it.

Here you can see the gain in width compared to the stock rear full float. And then the last picture is with the Rear axle in place. It is a full float as well. So My old axles are up for grabs. Front has a limited slip installed and the rear is just an open full float.

So here is the rear on 35's. It is way to big in my opinion and I need to make it sit down a bit. Maybe when the body is on and some wieght is on the frame it will come down a bit I hope. But for now if anyone is interested in lift shackles let me know :D

If it looks too high just buy bigger tires to balance it :p ;). If I didn't already have a floater I would buy it off ya ( it's still in the back of my truck  ) Funny how a project goes hey? Hmmm I think I'll add some air to that tire and the next thing you know your down to a bare frame.

Some of the latest. Got all the 35's on. Finished up some welding for the SOA and also removed the lift shackles and put the stock ones back in to lower it down some. I think in the rear though I need to get some anti inversion shackles because the shackle angle is really bad. I don't know why it is like that maybe I just need to get some wieght on the frame and get the springs settled out. The lowest part of the frame with no wieght on it sits at 27 inches. I imagine it will sink down one or two inches when i get the powertrain and body back on.

Some more pics. I also went and picked up some steel and painting supplies so I can start hammering away at getting the body finished.

Any updates John?

No not yet been to busy wheeling or working on other things. I need to go get a sheet of 18 gauge and start getting the body back together. Also need to look into a high steer kit and bunch of other things. But next year she had better be on the road. haha.

But next year she had better be on the road. haha.

I've been sayin that about mine for :hmm: hmmmmm, oh yeah, 3 years now. I think it's a zen thing.

Well I'm going for broke now haha. I need to get this on the road my Tacoma is killing me with repairs. I do my own labour but its one thing after another.

Have you got a heated shop at the farm? Maybe you should convince some Edmonton bums to come down some weekend and lend a hand or four :hmm:

Haha no heat for me. Kinda hard to get extra hands on what is left. Maybe when I start putting the body on I could use a few extra hands but in the mean time I'm just going to have to hack away at it. Just sold my 60 series seats so some 18 gauge will be picked up soon. Engine rebuild will be the big ticket item.

Well, let us know when it gets to that point.

So I continued with the body work some more and have decided to cut the whole way across I'm half way there. Drilling spot welds sucks. New metal and no rust underneath will soon follow.

More work to the back of the cab today. Got most of the metal out now just have to bead blast and primer so that rust doesn't form between the two pieces in the future.
