I am wondering if anyone on here has fit their truck gun in the tailgate. I'd want to keep it looking stock, but basically 'unclip' the carpet to show a laser-cut foam board with some restraints, to access it.

Any ideas?

PS. Save me all the "your gun won't do you any good in the tailgate" arguments. I am a believer that the "point of your pistol is to get to your rifle."

I think its a great storage idea for a 'survival' weapon. For a defensive weapon...I'm not so sure. Also, would recommend using a rifle cartridge (if the true benefits of having a rifle are to be realized) and not a carbine using pistol cartridges, but the idea of storing a weapon in the tailgate is appealing to me. Hope someone figures this out.

To keep the carpet, it will be a DIY job as pretty much all of the commercial tailgate storage options have their own top plate that replaces the carpet, and has no way to reattach the carpet. Personally, I would just forget the carpet thing altogether, get a decent commercial lockable tailgate storage solution and buy some foam for a Pelican rifle case to customize the fit. That Keltec folds up nice and compact, and you can easily fit an AR9 or AR45 "pistol" somrthing with with a 4.5" barrel, but I would not go any bigger than that.

I know you're not into traditional pistols, but alternatively, you can lock a Glock in the center console (I think Delta makes a nice one) and run an MCK.

Just remember, what you put out on the internet is there forever :hmm:. What people don't know people can't tell.
