Rainman, I'm in Nashville, working on my first project. You in Franklin, or further south like Spring Hill? Love to talk truck. Getting some help from Craig (VtgBeemer) in Gallatin, and everyone else on the forum. Actually chased down a Blue '77 last week - followed him to his house. First one I'd seen on the road in 6 months. Slower progress than yours - very spare time. Build progress thread is here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/721137-1st-fj40-76-where-start.html

I saw that blue one as well but wasn't in my 40 and did to have enough time to chase him down. I also saw a red one parked near edgehill village and left him a note on the windshield. Never heard back though. My truck is still in OH being rebuilt by JimC. I'd love to have a beer and help tool around with y'all sometime. I'm in East Nashville.

Chubby fellow with a bit of a beard, moved to Filmore Harris Road last year - Google is scary sometimes!

Pearly? You in Malasia? Do you have a crystal ball to figure this out or do you know him? Slug him for me next time you see him. Pick your own target spot.

VV, set up a time with adistler and let talk shop.

AdIstler, Clear your pm space up, or pay $20 to support the site cheap ass. I can't PM you. :)

I'll invite the new owner (or at least future owner) or The Green Machine to hang with us. And just as it turns out, Scott, you know him!

Okay, let's get this ship uprighted and back to the build.

CRAmP! Well, not really I guess. Check out the rusted ports. I wasn't wanting to spend the money on what was supposed to be a good motor but after rebuilding some areas the previous owners screwed with, an at least minor rebuild is a must here. The 2F has been idle for so long that the pistons (or rings) are at least partially seized in the cylinders. Used a scope and the cylinder walls look pretty good but saw some evidence of water dripping stains (rust stripes) a couple of times. While waiting on the paint job to harden I'll be taking the motor apart and cleaning it up and making sure everything is good. I just can't trust that guy anymore. A terrible mechanic and liar too.

Okay guys,

Anybody know if there are plugs for the emissions air injectors? You know, those plugs over the exhaust ports. This 2F has chrome acorn nuts that don't fit.

1/4" pugs have the right thread? I haven't checked the threads yet but if you know what they are let me know.

Thanks Le'mone...

if they're not correct, they're dang close...that's what everyone i know has used. i always used brass since it can be the sacrificial part. they thread in nicely, i do put pipe dope on them to ensure a good seal.

Inch by inch... step by step...

This isn't a bad looking door considering what we started with. That's fresh primer after the skim coating of (ahhhh!) bondo. After the blaster murdered the sheet metal, there was a bit of pounding and cheating that had to be done. No sweat though, Kiwi is great at this and my buddy should have years of a rust free and no cracking body on this FJ40. Paint has moved to Friday and second round is set for the final prep stage Monday or Tuesday. I'll try my best to get through the engine as quick as I can... weeks not days. Then it'll be time to assemble the whole truck. I've been looking forward to that part.

You can use the bass plugs or get them from Jim C (FJ40Jim I think) or TPI.
