Where did you find o/s dome top pistons? Got any more?
It looks the mostly finished engine is mounted in the chassis. How will it be painted now? Won't the pristine bodytub be in the way?
FWIW, the wiring harnesses are all discontinued in the last 10 years or so...

Jim, I'll have to ask the machine shop. They could only find .040 overs.
I'll have to be creative with the engine paint. No place in this cold for me to paint it and I had to get the engine in the chassis while I had the help. I'm not too worried My buddy agreed to make the engine compartment a "Plan B" operation. He wasn't concerned about how it looked under the hood so I'm powder coating a few parts when I'm doing other pieces and cleaning things up as I go but it will be a very solid truck but only pretty on the exterior and interior. When he's ready to put a little more into it, I'll address under the hood.

Thanks for the compliments guys. IT'S WARMING UP!! I hope to get on a roll soon with putting this together. I"m about to pull the trigger on the second and last black powder coating set. Seat parts mostly. I just wish the side pieces with the latch came apart with the spring easier. It'll be warm enough to finish out all the wire wheeling needed on the last batch of bolts to re plate. Those and a few more brackets. I got word that the dang fenders will get worked on again soon. Those are the only body parts left to paint and they got back-burnered. Cramp. I've got a replacement tank on the way and I've dropped off the radiator to get tested. I'd hate for that to be a problem. Finishing the PS conversion should end sooner than later and after a few small parts are replaced, the engine compartment will get put together (if the fenders are done) in a week or so. A few last "waiting on someone else" tasks and the truck should start to go together fairly quickly. MAN I'm ready.....

It was warm one whole day... Oh well.
Here are the quick shots of one new radiator and one new tank. Fitting for this truck really. Turns out the top tank of the radiator was full of cracks and worthless. It was almost a sure bet the bottom one was too. Better to get this over with though. Powder coating pieces and plating pieces all dropped off yesterday. Next week I should have that all back and for the last time I hope. I haven't tackled the tranny puzzle yet but I'm not too worried.

CCOT has them. I was only a little nervous about ordering the non Toyota one but once it got here I lost all jitters. The tank looks great other than the fact they sprayed it flat black. I HATE flat black. Maybe it's because the PO on the donor vehicle tried to (and poorly I might add) spray flat paint on anything and everything black on the truck. Can somebody explain to me the logic behind painting anything on a car or truck flat?
Out of spite. I could not agree more. Everything on my truck is also flat black. I'm using eastwood's semi-gloss chassis black to remedy it. Looks good where I have applied it so far. It's expensive though, I'll probably go with something more inexpensive inside the cab.

Flat black is useful for hiding crap. Note that many of the "high-end" rustorations on fleabay are sparaybombed flat black underneath, inside the fenderwells, all over the inner floor....

It may hide crap under it but don't touch it with anything and then don't try to clean it. Only way to repair bad looking flat paint is to repaint it. Seems like you're defeating the purpose to me.

FINALLY!
Something to post. I'll be getting close to putting the interior all together in the truck very soon. I need to install the front seal in the transmission and new gaskets. After that I can put the tranny hump back in. Presto. Everything else can go in after that. I'm still waiting on the dad-gum front fenders to get painted. "Hurry up Kiwi... dammit!" Still have a few custom items to fab up for the steering conversion and I'll post that when I get the stuff made. I've found a source for the rear harness (fingers crossed) from Brew8 up in Montana. Thanks!

Okay guys.. I need some help. I'm a bit preoccupied with my '32 project right now and trying to get the Hemi on the dyno in the next week but my FJ40 project has a hangup. I'm in the middle of repairing the main harness but the chassis harness is a disaster. Butchered for trailer lights and burnt places and the steenkeen' tail light plugs don't fit the tail lights. Please, anybody. I need a chassis harness and I'd like to keep the original plugs in place.
